The balls can be hit hard, but won't damage things they hit.

We bought this for our 5 & 6 year olds, and for the price it's been a fun toy. We set it up in our basement, and the kids play with it whenever Dad watches the hocky game on TV. Mom and Dad try to get down on the ground with the kids and play sometimes too, but we usually end up playing on our knees because the sticks are so short. I wouldn't recommend it for kids much older than this because the set is on the smaller side.

Well made and lots of fun. Our kids take skating lessons and go to NHL hockey games. So this is a great way to channel that excitement and energy at home. These can take the abuse and should last for years to come. Fun for parents, too. I am admittedly not the tallest person, but it is no problem to just bend over (going down to my knees would probably hurt more).

We purchased on sale at the local sporting goods store (Sports Authority, I think) for fifteen dollars, and Target sells it for twenty.

Each set comes with the net, one right-handed stick, one left-handed stick, and two balls. We found that certain bottle caps (like from Ensure drinks) work well as pucks.

NOTE: If you are starting from scratch and want two nets, this looks like an even better deal:

Franklin NHL Set of 2 Mini Hockey Goals

It comes with more than twice the equipment (also includes goalie sticks) at less than twice the price! Plus the nets are foldable and it even comes with a carry bag.

He thinks he is a professional hockey player. Balls are soft that I am not concerned he may do damage in the housel

We bought this for my 2 year old that always wants to play with big brother's hockey stuff. I debated on just buying a short stick and his own ball but decided to try out this set thinking they could find a use for an extra net. They play all to time! It's a new favorite.

This is a great starter set. Pretty durable. Note that the two sticks are each designed to be one right and one left handed shot so if your kids shoot only a certain way, you might want to buy other sticks.

This is a great mini hockey set for practicing skills. Check out this video for a better idea of what type of shots and skills you can practice. Since it is mini hockey it's great for indoor use. Just make sure to move breakable items out of the area of play if players might get boisterous.

This makes a great toy and also a great HOCKEY PARTY table backdrop! We used this for a dessert table prop and its size and quality of construction were perfect...afterward, the lucky 5-yr old received it as party of her birthday gift :-)

All 3 of my kids love to play knee hockey. Do yourself a favor and get the set with TWO folding nets so the kids can play "full-ice." The folding nets also make it easier to put them away when finished. The balls are pretty soft so they don't hurt much when the kids really let them fly but they will knock things over so be advised to set this up in a room where you don't care so much about items on display being knocked over/down. Also, the sticks are made of hard plastic/nylon so they are very durable but they also hurt if used inappropriately. The sets with two sticks usually come one left-handed, one-right handed. Keep that in mind. I think the four stick sets come with two of each which is preferred in case you have two righties of lefties. We started with the one net set and eventually bought additional items to build onto it. We now have several nets, sticks and accessories and the games get quite intense. I would suggest starting with a set that includes 2 folding nets and 4 sticks. That will cover 95% of what you will probably ever need.
