THE BEST NOVEL I HAVE READ IN A LONG TIME!!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Frankly, My Dear (Timeswept) (Paperback)
Ms. Hill outdid herself with this brazing, wonderful, laugh-a-minute novel. I laughed until I cried and cried until I laughed. To be honest, I am not one for time-travel and precivil war novels, but I decided to buy it because of the cover. That may sound a bit off beat (never judge a book by it's cover) but just one look at James and Selene and you know they were meant to be. By the second page, I was hooked. I didn't put it down until the end and I was ever so sorry that it ended! A story like that should last forever! Ms. Hill is a terrific romance writer (and the only novelest who ever answered a fan letter from me). Thank you, Sandra, for the many great novels and the fan appreciation!

I love Sandra Hill and this book is one of her best. I can not believe that some people did not love this story. The combination of the humor mixed with romance makes it one of the most enjoyable books I ever read. I did laugh out loud in parts, the characters are great and the story interesting. i highly recommend.

This is the second book by Sandra, the first being THE LAST VIKING and it is absolutely wonderful. Sandra is fast becoming one of my most favorite authors (LYNN KURLAND being my favorite). I howled at her dumb blonde jokes and her arrow-back (aerobics)classes with the servants. Selene's character is just right. She is not the typical blonde Southern Belle, she is a very feisty, passionate woman, even if she doesn't think so. You'll be in stitches at some of the things she get's up to. She helps the women on the plantation with their problems - especially where it concerns their men. She tells them about a sexual position called The Perfect Fit. The morning after the women had learned about it was hillarious. The men were walking about with smiles like the cat who got the cream. Everyone knew what they had all been up to the night before. This book is so incredibly funny, you'll die laughing. James is a dream come true for any woman, (look at the cover and see what I mean). He is just as passionate as Selene. When they make love the pages just sizzle with the heat. Sandra has wrote a very funny and a very passionate book. The other characters in the story are wonderful, with the exception of Victor and James' wife Giselle. I'm looking forward to reading Ettienne's story in SWEETER, SAVAGE LOVE, but first i'm going to read DESPERADO because James and Selene are in that one as well. Well done Sandra.

best book ever!,
This review is from: Frankly, My Dear... (Timeswept) (Mass Market Paperback)
Frankly My Dear was the first book i ever read by Sandra Hill and it was the best ever! This book was outragously funny , it had me laughing out loud! Sandra selente better known as Selene is a supermodel who is fed up with modeling. but just as she is about to quit, while on her last job she is put under a curse that transports her back in time where she meets the dashingly handsome James Baptiste. James thinks she is crazy of course and does not believe that she is from the future. This book is great . I love novels that have good humor , the blonde jokes, the Gone With The Wind references were priceless! I recommend this book to anyone with a good sense of humor.

This book has all the flare and enchantment of a real life fairy tale come to life in the pages of this book. How many of us have ever wished to wake up in a time when men were dashing and gallant? For those that have ever dreamed of finding themselves propelled through time to find their prince charming, this book is for you!

I have never took much interest in romance novels. I got this one because it dealed with my two favorite things, time travel and Gone With the Wind. I was not disappointeed. Sandra Hill has a wonderful sense of humor, and I look forward to reading more of her books.

Stop The Madness!!!,
By Once Upon A Time "Professional DayDreamer" (Southern Pines, NC) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Frankly, My Dear... (Timeswept) (Mass Market Paperback)
When I first read the "pre-reviews" of this book before it was released, I was very excited. So excited that I pre-ordered the book. I read this book in one day and had to force myself to finish it. The concept behind the book was great - model goes back in time and is mistaken for a mulatto/quadroon at one of the famous Quadroon balls. Wow! This should make for an interesting read, right? Wrong! For one, the heroine bemoaned living in a society where she and other women were judged based on their outward appearance - and she spends half the book trying to get the other women around her to change their appearances in attempts to attract the men they desire. And a Black woman bemoaning her big behind? Give me a break! As a Black female and avid reader of historical romances, this book was just plain silly! I am not a stickler for historical accuracies and such and get tired of reviewers who spend so much time criticizing small inaccuracies that they miss the beauty of a well-written story but this book was just unbelieveable! For one...the characters sounded like they were from modern days, not historical times. Secondly, the 4-year old (E.T. *eyes rolling) - he wasn't funny. He needed his behind paddled and his mouth washed out with soap. I could go on and on but why bother? What could have been a perfectly good story is ruined by an excessive amount of silliness.

Sandra Hill knows how to make you laugh. This book is a light hearted story of a famous model being thrown back in time by a voodoo spell. She lands in the time of slavery and gentleman who knew how to treat a woman like a woman. Being on a plantation in Lousiana is not easy but Selena finds that she loves everything about her new life. The owner James, his servants and wild son warm your heart. Selena brings the 1999's to the 1800's. While teaching the young children math and biology, she is also teaching aerobics to the staff and having group therapy sessions for the woman. What a hoot. Throw in some Gone with the Wind and you got a funny love story.
