If you are pregnant- READ THIS BOOK!!!,
By second time around (new york, n.y.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Frankly Pregnant: A Candid, Week-by-Week Guide to the Unexpected Joys, Raging Hormones, and Common Experiences of Pregnancy (Paperback)
This book is a fantastic guide to the month by month trials and tribulations of being pregnant. It had the answers to all my crazy questions and I got a lot of relief from the author's candid writing about her own experiences. This is a MUST read for anyone who is pregnant. I only wish she had written it sooner!!! from a pregnant 2nd time Mom

Fabulously Funny,

This book is funny and enjoyable. It's not the typical "Do this" and "Don't do that" guide to pregnancy. It's more like a whole bunch of girlfriends getting together to compare, inform, and laught about the whole process. After I read Frankly Pregnant, I felt much more at ease about my pregnancy and less embaressed about the weird things my body is doing as this baby grows inside me. It's a good dose of common sense with a sense of humour.

Terrific "Tell-It-Like-It-Really-Is" Pregnancy Book!,
By Pam H. (NY USA) - See all my reviews

Stacy's writing is so down-to-earth and real (very refreshing!) She gives a very personal and detailed description of all the symptoms she experiences throughout her pregnancy. You feel like you are going through it with her! Along with lots of humor, she delivers the facts about what's happening to your body with intelligent wit. It is so comforting to read about the things you are feeling too (and may be thinking you are the only one ever to feel it!) This book is great for all Moms-to-be!

Funny, but uninformative,

When looking at the description of this title, I assumed that the book would be much more informative on pregnancy symptoms (it seemed relatively few were mentioned, mostly headaches and the like as experienced by the author), and assumed a larger "question and answer" section on pregnancy. That said, it's not a bad book, just not what I feel it was presented to be by the synopsis. This is more suited for entertainment purposes than any significant "educational" value.

The author tries to be upbeat and funny about some of the pregnancy "symptoms" and claims to discuss things no one else does. I found the attempt at humor mostly annoying since I felt like she was trying to make fun of some of the quirks that come with the territory. As far as the discussion of things no one else does... maybe that was true 10 or 15 years ago, but she talks about all the "less than glamorous" things that everyone else talks about. Overall, the book was mildly amuzing, at best. Save yourself some cash... you'll find more helpful and entertaining pregnancy discussions online (there are many pregnancy blogs out there that don't spare any details and do so in a very entertaining manner).

I gave this book as a gift to a young, first time mother. She completely loved it. It has been read during work hours out loud. We have three first time mothers to be sharing it.

Bought it for my wife after reading some of the author's website. She's hysterical. I though my wife could use a little bit of a lighter, more "realistic" take on pregnancy then all the "What to expect" type of books. She loved it.
And kudos to the author for finally referring to the raging hormones of pregnancy as they are... Horror-mones. (her words, not mine). Even though I am blessed with an extremely even-keel wife, I heartily concur with that new term... (and so will every guy out there). :) Good book... provides a nice chuckle along with some good info and some very funny questions that you probably wanted to ask at least once but were to embarrassed too. Enjoy!

Cute book. Not a lot of information, if thats what you're looking for. Just one girls view of pregnancy, with the help of her friends and Dr Miriam Greene of SATC fame.

When I got pregnant for the first time I bought a ton of books. As it turned out, this was the only one that I ever read cover to cover. It is entertaining and informative. Also, while the author talks about complications to be aware of, she doesn't make it sound scary and impossible like some other books out there. It's just like talking to a friend. I highly recommend this book.
