9 year old daughter loves Franny!

He's able to read them through in one sitting, so these books are an alternative for him to the long chapter books that take a couple of weeks for him to read.

This is the first young chapter reader series I purchased for my 6 year old, and she loves it. The story is about Franny, a girl that is learning to adapt to other kids and their lifestyles. She is very awkward in the process, of course, as she is a mad scientist.

Franny loves science, and underlying this story is the theme that it's ok for a girl to be a geek. Don't be worried about the "mad scientist" bit. Franny isn't evil. She is a dabbler, liking bats and boogers, bugs and inventions.

The Franny series has captured my daughter's imagination. It is creative, unique, and something my daughter reads almost every night on her own. Franny has fueled my daughter's fire for reading.

There are no real scary aspects to the story. The monsters are silly, like huge lunch meat sandwiches, or fifty foot cupids.

If you are looking for a fascinating chapter book that captures your child's imagination, try Franny K Stein. My daughter wants more books! I have bought her the entire series, and she can't put them down. Her reading ability is growing in leaps and bounds!

My 9 year old son LOVES these books. He is a struggling reader, and would rather learn science than language arts. Because these books have to do with science experiments, he eats them up. He's on the 4th book now and I did not tell him to read last night, and caught him reading it on his own and almost done with it. It's exciting for me as a parent and reader to see him find a series that can hold his interest while he becomes a better reader.

My son loves the Magic Tree House series and Caption Underpants series---and now this one too. I especially like that these books star a girl, yet appeal to boys. In terms of reading level, this series is easier and less "serious" then the Magic Tree House series---it's closer to Caption Underpants (lots of scribbles and drawings, goofy antics, and not too much text on each page).

I love these books because they are great chapter books. They are funny because Franny is the coolest mad scientist, to be a girl.

I will read Franny K. Stein for the rest of my life.

My 2 older boys (ages 6 and 8) have been enjoying these books. They seem to have a good mix of kid-like silliness as well as a reading challenge and a good message.

Franny is a bit of a loner who marches to the beat of her own drum. In one of the books, she tries to change herself to fit in, ultimately realizing she is happier as herself. This theme follows throughout the series - she is different than her classmates, but likes herself and learns to make friends as the mad scientist she is.

Each book involves Franny "saving the day", using her scientific capabilities. Sometimes it's her experiments that create the problem in the first place, but none of her peers seem to hold that against her.

The reading level is a bit simple for my 8 year old, but he has enjoyed them anyway. He's able to read them through in one sitting, so these books are an alternative for him to the long chapter books that take a couple of weeks for him to read.

My 6 year old and I read them together, trading off chapters. The chapters are usually only a few pages, and simple illustrations help keep him interested as well. He and I usually require 3 sittings to complete a book (15-20 minutes per sitting, trading off chapters).

This package includes the first 4 books in the series. Two subsequent books exist as well, however I couldn't find a box set with more than these 4 original books.

It's great to have a book series that features a girl "hero" character. Franny is funny, smart, adventurous. She's a mad scientist, but not in a weird or scary way. She's a little socially awkward, but she's very likable and personable. I was curious if she's appeal to my son, simply because she wasn't a boy, but he was immediately hooked on the series and read them one after another. The illustrations throughout are nicely done and illustrate the story well, especially some of the outrageous and funny scenes. The "Crate of Danger" bundle is also a great deal for all 4 books.

My 9 year old son (who usually hates to read) loves these books. It is normally a chore to get him to pick up something and read it but my son read these books in the car and couldn't put them down. He is constantly checking his school's library to see when the other Franny K. Stein books will be available to loan out. These books have hilarious illustrations and the stories are wild! They keep the kids' interest while teaching them that it's okay to be different.

These books are a favorite with my 9-year old boy. His only complaint...there aren't enough books in the series!
