And yet another 10 star book on nature photography. This is a hard to get title, if you find it buy it. It is absolutely fascinating, I cannot say anything else that hasn't been said by all other previous reviewers. For nature lovers and rainforest addicts, this should be a must have. Bravo, Mr. Lanting!!! Save the jungles and the wonderful creatures of the world!!!!

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful By I. Giles TOP 100 REVIEWER on July 7, 2012
Format: Hardcover
This book is quite different to others that I have seen or owned. This is because Frans Lanting has chosen to portray the subject in more of an emotional manner rather than as a more photographically analytical record.

As a result there are images where movement is suggested rather than stated, where colours are seen as washes rather than as clearly defined and where close-ups are seen within backgrounds that create a non-competing frame or mount. There are, of course, plenty of images that are more straightforwardly beautiful portrayals in more conventional ways. Sunset images as an example are simply left to speak as they are.

This is a very fine book indeed. The images are printed at large size and in excellent colour. This essentially is a book of images with minimal script. However, there are thumbnails of all the images at the back of the book and each of these has adequate accompanying descriptive script. This book is a magnificent and unique artistic statement about 'being' in a jungle. In my opinion this is a a 5 star production and should give much pleasure as pure photography as well as capturing the sensation of 'being there'
