This review is from: Franz Benda: Six Violin Sonatas (Audio CD)
Chekeslavakian composer, Franz Benda's harpsichord concertos have always been most enjoyable for me to listen to. Therefore I eagerly purchased this recording of Benda's Six (6) violin sonatas with harpsichord accompaniment that were written throughout his life in the 1700s. I am so very glad that I did purchase this marvelous CPO recording that is almost 70 minutes in length because they are greatly played by Anton Steck, violin and Christian Rieger on harpsichord. This recording is filled with some wonderful three (3) movement baroque sonatas. The works follow the usual "forms of the day" consisting of two fast movements and one slow. As played herein, I found these Benda Violin Sonatas lovely indeed--very melodic and rhythmic.
