This review is from: Franz Liszt: Complete Piano Music, Volume 14 (Audio CD)
This unusual repertoire consists of the Liszt's transcriptions of 24 characters pieces(in all the keys) by Bunte Reihe for Violn and Piano. Liszt's transcriptions were well enough, indeed these pieces sound to be originally wrote for piano only. But alas, I must say that the original pieces is not first-rate in music (We can compare with Mendelssohn's or even Alkan's similar work). Hence, even under Liszt's hand these pieces still sound trite. Here Tryon's performance is just ok, sometimes lacks imagination. He could in fact put more imagination in it ,and could be more bold and free on these songs. The sound is well.
