While it isn't flawless, its easilly beats out most other oldies comps of the nature. If you are a diehard oldies fan, you probably already own most of the good stuff on this comp. However, if you're a casual fan looking for some good party music, than this is a good purchase. "Louie Louie", "Wolly Bully", and "Double Shot of My Baby's Love" are obvious picks, but still are great tunes. "Nobody But Me" and "Just Like Me" were unexpected but welcome additions. And one of the main reasons for purchasing this compilation was the Gentrys' classic "Keep On Dancin'". One of my favorite songs ever, this is the easiest way of obtaining this supremly underrated one hit wonder (hey it kicks the crap outta other wonders such as "Macharena" and "More More More"). Than again, this isn't a flawless collection. "Dance to the Music" is a great song, but is out of place, as is "Reelin' and Rockin'" (why not choose another Berry tune). I always found "Wild Thing" to be overrated, but I understand it's inclusion. Lastly, why include the Dynatones' version of "Shout" instead of the Isleys? Its the best party rock of the 50s and 60s, not cover rock of the 80s. Despite the flaws, this is still a fun compilation to own. A good buy for the casual oldies fan.

Wow, what a great album this is. Its got all those great classics from the 60's Garage/Frat Rock era. Im a pretty young guy so I never had the chance to enjoy these times like most you out there, but let me say that when I crank this album in my house the party instantly starts. So crack open some beer, turn that radio up as loud as she goes and get ready to boogaloo!!

FRAT ROCK!-VARIOUS ARTISTS: The term "Frat Rock" could not have existed without John Belushi's star making turn as ANIMAL HOUSE's supreme slob Bluto Blutarski; Rhino Records' toga-party-till-you-puke roundup boasts gobs of timeless trash in tribute. Unfortunately, that all important sonic blast of gospel greatness SHOUT is neither the Isley Brothers' original nor Otis Day and the Knights' rendition from the movie, but an unknown group called THE DYNATONES. No matter...you can still marvel at one hit wonders the Human Beinz' powerhouse pummeling of NOBODY BUT ME, bask in the frantic funk frenzy of Sly Stone's call and response DANCE TO THE MUSIC, and soak up the normally saccharine Righteous Brothers' most blue-eyed soul moment, the rollicking LITTLE LATIN LUPE LU. There's also the Swingin' Medallions' lust-encrusted DOUBLE SHOT (OF MY BABY'S LOVE), the astounding soul power of teenaged Stevie Winwood's GIMME SOME LOVIN' and the cheesy Tex Mex madness of Sam the Sham's WOOLY BULLY...I could go on, but I hear a Pabst Blue Ribbon or three callin' my name. This greasy RNB-laced drunken singalong platter is worth its weight in bottle caps.

RATING: FOUR FOOD FIGHTS

This CD starts out really strong, keeps it going for about 3/4 of the way through and then, on the last few songs just wimps out. Can you imagine them playing Sly and the Family Stone in "Animal House"? Neither can I. Nevertheless, if you can program your CD player to leave off the last few tracks, this CD is worth it.
