From Children's Software Revue® -- "Subscribe Now!"

If you have a Windows or Mac computer, you have two "Finding Nemo" software options -- this one (a scavenger hunt adventure that follows the story of the movie) and Finding Nemo Underwater World of Fun (an activity pack). Both are made by the same studio (KnowWonder) and feature beautiful graphics and witty characters from the movie. But we found this one to be trickier to play. After you sign in by selecting one of six fish, your objective is to steer Nemo through two different worlds (a fish tank with five different areas, and the ocean with five more). At any time, you can toggle between the two worlds by clicking on an icon at the bottom of the screen. This parallel story design feature is innovative, but take note that the leveling of the activities is inconsistent, so younger players (and adults) may get frustrated. For example, we had a very hard time finding a "frond" (actually a leaf) which is essential in order to complete the fish tank games, and moving throughout the screens can be unintuitive because the arrow placement changes from screen to screen. Games include "Avoiding the Anglerfish" (poorly designed), and the maze like "Hopping Across the Jellyfish" (the name says it all). In general, your child will do a lot of steering through mazes, matching objects, and repeating patterns in Simon Says fashion. Each successful game earns a part needed to move to the next game, and the program includes 14 movie clips. Besides the ability to save up to six different games, there's also a closed-captioning option that is great for pre-readers.All in all, this is a fun program that provides plenty of logical problem solving opportunities, but it could use some sanding, and you'll want to be in the room to provide help if you have a younger child. You'll find Nemo's Underwater Fun to be easier to use. (Tip: at any point, you can interrupt or hurry along the narration by pressing the spacebar.)Copyright © 2001 Children's Software Revue

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun Game Worth $20, April 13, 2004
By
This review is from: Freaky Flyers (Video Game)
this is a fun game. not amazing or oustanding but fun. it gets kinda repetitive but it really depends on how easily u give up. some levels r so hard and fusterating. but if u keep at it u will eventually beat it. i am gona keep this review short and say u should buy this game. comparin it to other games i prop would hav given it 3 stars but is only $20. i would pay up to 35 for it but its obviously not worth 50 and tats y its not sold at that price but for 20 u cant go wrong. u should buy it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Freaky Flyers, September 21, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Freaky Flyers (Video Game)
Freaky Flyers is an airplane racing game with a cartoon like feel, that sounded good to me so I bought it, however the game moves at an extremely slow speed, it almost feels like your airplane is staying still and the enviroment is moving. Also you must beat levels to unlock characters and new tracks; Lame.
