WOW - This is truly wonderful !!,

I had never heard of Megan Slankard before, but I also saw a clip of the TLC show and heard Megan singing for the first time. As a Bay Area resident I thought I'd buy the CD to support a local artist - but never thought I'd actually LOVE it so much that I'd buy 10 more CD's to hand out to friends (with the caveat that if they liked it, that they would pass their CD to a friend and would get on Amazon and purchase the CD for themselves). I love music, but have never been so inspired to try and do something to help what I believe is truly an original talent be heard.
Everyone I play the CD for says the same thing - AWESOME !! All the songs are worth listening to, but Mockingbird is my absolute favorite on the album, followed by Captain Madness. This is one CD that I think you'll be happy you took a chance on.

I saw her on TLC's "What Not to Wear" and I heard part of one song. I was hooked, so my boyfriend bought it here on amazon for me. (even with a two month waiting list). We are planning to see her in concert when she comes to the seattle area. We are so glad we took a chance on Megan and her crew. I highly recommend this diamond that is no longer rough. A+++++

... for revealing this musical gem to me. Some night owl channel surfing introduced Megan's musical talents to my disciminate palet. She's what everyone is listening for with an appetite for good, contemporary folk music. She's a cross between Liz Phair and Shawn Colvin with a bit more edge. Hard to believe she's only 20. Good luck Megan, don't let the record industry compromise your pureness.

You only have to listen to the music stylings of Miss Megan Slankard for a few seconds to know that what you are hearing is the result of massive talent and the unleash of creative passion. "Freaky Little Story" with it's heart felt ballads and power tunes is the perfect blend for anyone who loves well written soulful music. Providing not only vocals and words but also guitar on the album, Megan proves to the world that she is a force to be rekoned with and a talent that will refuse to be ignored. Purchasing this record, as well as her other album "Lady Is A Pirate", will add flare and flame to any cd collection. I have nothing but love and praise for the Megan Slankard Band.

Mellifluous Megan,

Megan's ability to make any word melodic is truly astounding. It is as if these words are her own language and the listener is enraptured in their presence. Her voice is able to put the observer in a trance, from which he/she does not wish to escape. She is a rare find, an artist who has unlimited resources within her psyche. It is truly remarkable when she fluctuates through an array of notes and pitches. Much can be said when one listens to a selection of songs by someone and is not tired, but desires more of these ethereal compositions.

I saw Megan on TLC's What Not To Wear and was instantly hooked on her music. This is one CD that I can honestly say that has 13 tracks that I like! Usually, you only have a few tracks on a CD that you like, but not with Freaky Little Story. Megan's introspective and thought provoking lyrics appeal to a variety of audiences and always have the listener wanting more. Two thumbs up!!

I was at the taping of the TLC show what not to wear in San Francisco when Megan was told she was going to be on the show. Her music captivated me, as she sang with intensely real lyrics from deep within. Megan is one of the newest and upcoming singer/songwriters and her music can be enjoyed greatly in both the live setting and from the studio on cd. I would highly recommend trying out this cd if you are into good soulful acoustic music from a very passionate, genuine young lady. I wish her luck!

After viewing this artist on TLC's "What Not To Wear," I immediately came to Amazon.com to buy her album. This singer/songwriter has a great natural voice with enough vibrato to get her point across. Her voice is amazing, and her lyrics and meolodies are fantastic as well. Highly recommended!

Without TLC's "What not to wear", this artist would have remained an unknown to me. Megan, lyrically and vocally, displays an art of vulnerability, honesty, and rawness to her music common to only the remarkable. She should be heard everywhere.
