5.0 out of 5 stars What's Not To Like?
This is, quite simply, a strong Christmas album with some "shake your shimmy" verve and the usual good-times aura. The songs selected for the current (and very funny) Christmas film starring Vince Vaughn, Paul Giamatti, and Miranda Richardson, are an ideal collage of all the possible moods of Christmas--rockin' (with Elvis), classic for the kiddies (Doris Day's "Here...

5.0 out of 5 stars What's Not To Like?, November 21, 2007
This review is from: Fred Claus (Audio CD)
This is, quite simply, a strong Christmas album with some "shake your shimmy" verve and the usual good-times aura. The songs selected for the current (and very funny) Christmas film starring Vince Vaughn, Paul Giamatti, and Miranda Richardson, are an ideal collage of all the possible moods of Christmas--rockin' (with Elvis), classic for the kiddies (Doris Day's "Here Comes Santa Claus") and some more obscure choices, all of which work.

A really top-notch Holiday or Holiday Party album that'll hold up well, because these are superb Christmas tunes. Sinead O'Connor's version of 'Silent Night'(with Peter Gabriel on keyboards) is, believe it or not, the most haunting and utterly goose-pimply version of this song ever done, IMO. VERY Christmas "reverent."

Highly Recommended CD for anyone celebrating the Season, and if you are a collector of Christmas Music CDs, you must, of course, include this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars FRED CLAUS, August 14, 2008

This CD contains well known Christmas songs performed by well-known singers spanning three-quarters of a century - from Doris Day through to the wonderful Israel Kamakawiwo'ole. "Somewhere Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World" is the highlight track for me.
Sinead O'Connor gives a great rendition of "Silent Night". Fans of Elvis, the Jackson Five, Doris Day, or Guy Lombardo will enjoy their contributions, though none of their songs on this movie soundtrack do anything for me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great cross-selection of classics and newer, December 7, 2010

This review is from: Fred Claus (Audio CD)
This CD has classics but also some that you've probably heard but don't have. An ethereal, stunning version of Silent Night by Sinead O'Connor, Somewhere Over the Rainbow by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole (sp???) and the one I really, really, really wanted ... Christmas Wrapping by The Waitresses. For the fans of older tunes, there is Doris Day, Johnny Mercer and Guy Lombardo. Just skip over the Leigh Nash song. A good listen at Christmas and a must have for us oddballs that celebrate Christmas in July.

This is a great cd for Christmas music. If you saw the movie and wanted the Elvis song "Rubberneckin" it isn't on this CD.

4.0 out of 5 stars GREAT ADDITION TO YOUR CHRISTMAS COLLECTION, January 17, 2009
This review is from: Fred Claus (Audio CD)
Fun addition if you enjoy Christmas music during (and even after) the season. Has a variety of music with some new songs, some oldies and a beautiful rendition of Silent Night. Even has Auld Lang Syne to take you into the New Year holiday. I'll enjoy it for years to come and highly recommend it, even if you haven't seen the movie. But I recommend the movie, too. I purchased it as well.
