Product Description

Fred & Friends Chillbots ice cube tray is a silicone ice cube tray. It's design incompasses 4 robot and 4 robot key ice molds per tray. It comes in a vibrant red color, packaged in a clear recyclable plastic printed box. Takes advantage of a robot craze which is quite active in the marketplace. Looks very cool( pun intended) in the glass.

2.0 out of 5 stars Uncool, Robot June 26, 2011
I love novelty ice, and I love robots. And I love Bea Arthur as Maude Findlay; nobody could rock a polyester pantsuit quite as tastefully as she could. But let's get back to ice and robots.

I am a fan of Fred and Friends ice trays despite their shortcomings, mainly: they don't yield much ice, and the ice can be hard to maneuver out of their silicone molds without breaking the shape. I have yet to release a single in-tact Chillbot and I find myself wondering aloud whether replacement legs for actual robots would be called prosthetics or just "legs."

The end result is creepy floating robot heads too skinny to actually cool anything. You can do better, icewise and robotwise. And let's not forget Robert Wise. He directed West Side Story, you know. And without the aid of the Chillbot ice tray, he played it cool, boy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Looks like a dead guy in my Sprite January 27, 2011

I ordered this one and the "Gin and Titonic." They are both pretty neat, but I have to say that the robots don't float upright, or at least not in soda (I haven't tried it anything else yet). I put it in a short glass of Sprite, and the robot floated to the top on its back which just looks like there is a dead guy in my drink.

3.0 out of 5 stars Armless wonders March 24, 2011

I have several Fred ice molds and am generally in love with the idea of having miniature robots making my beverages not only ice cold but also fun to drink. The problem is, like many silicone ice molds with finer detail they break at their this thinnest point meaning although i have mastered several silicone ice cube trays I have yet to have a complete robot with hands. I have only made two batches and i have to say they are ridiculously cute otherwise and are likely to improve over time as my goldfish ice cube mold did I am still wondering whether I will go my whole life without a perfect ice robot.

1.0 out of 5 stars Legs break off - poor design
I have tried using this mold for water, jello jigglers, and chocolate and each time the legs and hands break off. The mold is a really bad design, too narrow at the joint. Read more

I bought this for myself. They are also a great gift idea for the Sci-fi fan. Easy to clean and use.

2.0 out of 5 stars Just doesn't work well
I like these novelty ice cube trays from fred and friends because they hold up and are well made, but this one just is a huge disappointment. The tray itself seems too shallow. Read more

IF you are into such things then it is a fun thing to get. Just be a little careful while taking out the ice cubes as the robot arms break sometimes. Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars Not so chillbots
The keys come out whole, but the robots do not. The arms and legs break off so you can't even tell what they're supposed to be. Disappointing.

3.0 out of 5 stars The claws :<
I bought these mainly for use with chocolate. As with all my silicone molds, I make ice with them first to see how they look and to get an idea of how much each cavity holds. Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Cute and flexible.
Soft silicon mold makes it easy to get ice cubes out. Love the robots and red was a perfect color for a Christmas gift. It was well received and has no apparent problems.

They look cute until one realizes that a $10 ice cube tray yields only 8 ice cubes. The reason I am returning them though was that I was not able to get the ice cubes out without... Read more
