I purchased this for my husband who drinks a lot of tea. We both think that it is very cute and the concept is good, but from a functional stand point it could be a lot better. For example, the top portion has no holes.. this means to submerge the diver you have to put him upside down until water can push out all the air and it will sink. While doing this, you are most likely spilling some very hot water on yourself. Also, it's not the easiest to clean.

I received this as a gift from my brother-in-law for Christmas. He thought I would really enjoy using this as I love loose leaf teas and am an avid diver. I was so excited to give this a try and finally got a chance when we stayed out of town last night. I thought it would be perfect for travel rather than bringing a Teavanna perfect tea strainer like I use at home (which is an excellent product btw Teavana PerfecTea Tea Maker, 16oz ).

I am sorry to say that I was very disappointed in this little gadget. It is pretty small and hardly holds enough loose leaf tea to make a cup. It is difficult to get the tea into the device without spilling/wasting tea as the opening on the bottom is very small. Even so, I thought... well, okay. I'll learn to use it better with time. But then, as I was trying to empty the used tea into the garbage, the metal ring fell off and I had to dig through the garbage to find it as the device pretty much won't work without it. My husband (who does not really drink tea) commented on how poorly it was made as he was helping me dig through the garbage so that I might be able to use this more than just the first time I tried it.

Also, it does not allow the tea leaves to expand much at all and therefore, the tea does not end up having the same flavor as when I make it is my typical vessel.

Overall, it's a cute idea but not very practical or useful compared to other devices available.

It was kind of expensive but it was so cute I had to get it. I was a bit surprised by how small it is since there was no dimensions listed under the info about the product. It is meant for one cup of tea and I was looking for something for a pot of tea. I suppose it would do well for a single serving pot of tea but I usually brew 4 cups because I drink a lot! Even though its small a lot of tea fits in there; but don't over fill or the tea leaves wont have enough room to fully expand. Maybe its because its so cute but I could swear my tea tastes better when using the diver as opposed to the regular metal mesh ball. I wish there was a way to prevent this but even this diver is subject to tea stains. So I suspect it'll be brownish soon. Oh, also the opening is at the feet. Be very careful about where you set them to dry. I air dry mine in the little basket in the dishwasher but once his little feet somehow slipped and disappeared into the garbage disposal for almost a week! I was devastated, and I wasn't looking forward to buying another one. Thankfully I found out, so just beware because its clear and tiny so it can easily be lost.

Such a cute little guy but really useless. I received this as part of my christmas present and I made sure to use a nice dark herbal tea so it would really show up. Nothing comes out of the holes! It's basically a colored scuba dude in a class of clear water. I can't even squeeze the tea out because the bottom will pop open. Don't waste your money on this. He also just floats on top of the water. I'm really disappointed

Cute, but it floats (sinks eventually 15 min)and the tea seeps out v e r y s l o w l y . Maybe I used so much tea that the air is trapped in there or something? I will have to see if it sinks without tea in it later. The bottom pops off pretty easy when hot as well so be carful stiring the tea. Not very satisfied I understand why there is an all metal version for sale on amazon now, I may buy that one later.

Cute; not functional!!! Barely holds enough loose tea to make a small cup; time consuming to clean tea out of holes. If you're an avid tea drinker, save your money and buy something more useful!!!

I bought this because it was really cute, but it is not very well made. The first time that I used this, the metal ring around the bottom fell off, and has fall off several times sense. Without the ring, it is impossible to keep the bottom closed. The bottom is difficult to close, because you have to maneuver the flimsy bottom into the upper flimsy silicon part. I have had my tea leaves spill out of the bottom more than once. Also, the connecting piece between the top and bottom looks like it could break with a good pull. As for getting tea into this thing, it is difficult to get tea into the dime sized hole and I end up spilling more of my loose leaf tea leaves than I end up getting into the strainer. Once the tea is in this thing, it really doesn't have much room to expand.

I like the fact that this has the counter weight that keeps you from putting your fingers in the mug to take the strainer out. Also, it comes with a small silicon coaster that keeps the excess water off your table. Hopefully I wont lose it at some point.

tl:dr: don't buy, not worth it
