5.0 out of 5 stars LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THESE COOKIE CUTTERS!!!!! January 18, 2012

I ordered these cookie cutters from Amazon and it took several months until they were back in stock. I'm glad I waited for them because they are AMAZING!!!! They make the absolute cutest cookies!!! The cutters are made of a durable plastic with 2 sides. One side is the shape and the flip side is the impression. Make sure to FLOUR the shape side each time used so dough will easily come out. The impressions are crisp and easy to decorate.

Two clear plastic "trays" are embossed with each letter and hold the cutters accordingly. These "trays" are rather flimsy, though. They are made out of the same type of packaging plastic used for "blister packs." There are only 2 shapes, square and rectangle with several size variations. The square cutters range from 1 3/4" - 2 1/2." The rectangles range from 2 1/2" x 1 3/4" - 2 3/4" x 2."

Some of the letters have designs in the impression. dots, lines, etc. One drawback is that there are only two punctuation marks: exclamation sign(!) and amber sign(&). The set needed some numbers and a question mark. But, other than that and the flimsy trays, it's different and really cute for all ages!!! My kids are in college and had fun using these.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

These cutters are useful, and super cute. The only problem is that it's a little hard to get the cookie out of the mold.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cookie Hip December 30, 2012

These super-sturdy cookie cutters are rather time-consuming to use, but when used properly, the cut-outs turn out awesome. I've used these to make cookies for a wedding shower that spelled out the couple's names, and also at Christmas to spell out "Noel" and got tons of compliments on how cute they were both times. The back of the cookie press is actually the cutter, which cuts the square or rectangular shape out of the pressed dough (the directions tell you to cut out the shape first and then press the letter in, but I found that the square and rectangular shapes became distorted if done in this order -- pressing first kept them all shaped nicely).

A couple of tips...generously flour BOTH sides of the cutter before pressing into dough. There are some very small crevices that will get jammed up if you don't use enough flour. Also, when getting the cookie out of the back, you have to tilt the cutter at an angle and smack it on your hand to jar it out. This took some practice, but after a few mess-ups, I got the hang of it. Once the cookies were on the baking sheet, I dusted a bit of colored crystal sugar into the letters and used a paintbrush (or a silicone basting brush) to sweep any stray sugar into the letter impressions. The colored sugar really made the cookies look great.

Overall, for me, the price was very reasonable and this was a good buy, but I definitely will be reserving these spelling projects for the adult crowd (kind of a bummer to see the kids jam a cookie into their mouths without even admiring it, considering the time that went into making them)! :)

4.0 out of 5 stars Cute but difficult July 13, 2012

This product is super cute, I had a lot of complements on the cookies. I tried the recipe on the back of the box but it wasn't for me. I have tried with a couple of other recipes since and they work pretty good. Some of the letters have fine detail that the dough gets stuck in and its hard to clean. But other than that, Great!

2.0 out of 5 stars Fun idea, not entirely impressed August 9, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase
I bought these letters for my son's first birthday party to make cookies that spelled out his initials. Unfortunately, the letters don't actually press very deep into the cookie. The other problem I encountered was how to decorate the cookies. Icing bags and various attachments all had their own problems - they have their own shape and were too thick to fit the shaped of the pressed letter. This is a fun idea, but I wouldn't buy the set again.

5.0 out of 5 stars How Cute! April 10, 2013

These cookie cutters are little dreams. You cut the cookie with one side and then stamp them with the other side. I have also used them on circle cut cookies that all the stamps fit on! Such a great product. I love Fred!

2.0 out of 5 stars Not as cool as I thought March 6, 2013

These had a great concept but didn't work out. I am a professional baker and these just were too difficult to work with and gave uneven, and unprofessional results. Luckily I used frosting to correct those issues. Have used them once and never went back!
