5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant & Moving, October 17, 2001
By
This review is from: Fred Hammond Christmas: Just Remember (Audio CD)
From the moment I slid the disc into the player, I was thrilled with this project. Fred is still as brilliant as he has always been.

The album opens with "His Name Is Jesus," an upbeat, uplifting gem. "A Strange Way to Save the World" is soothing to the soul, and follows the path of Fred's recent relaxed works. Marcus Cole helped pen the funky "Christmas Everyday," a quality track that only prepares you for the awesome "Suddenly". Perhaps the most memorable and inspirational song of the project is "It Took a Child to Save the World," playing on the irony of such a young Jesus making such a huge difference. "We Sing Glory" shines just as bright as those other tracks, while "He Is the Reason" closes out the album in good spirits.

To sum it up - I have listened to Brian McKnight, Boyz II Men, & Take 6's holiday works since I can remember. Fred will go right on that shelf next to them, and be pulled off every Christmas along with the others. This album is a must buy!

I have bought this album 3 times!!! I listen to it all year it continually blesses me, but hey what can you expect from fred who I have affectionately titled "THE GREAT ONE" God Bless ten thousand stars!!!!!!!!!!!

From the first track, Fred hammond approaches the thought of Christmas in a way that no one has thought of . The harmony of Fred Hammond with himself is just incredible and flows, and he also brings RFC in to tear the house up. I recommend this to anyone who loves, music , and Jesus. Oh yeah and you can rock this cd all year round it's that INCREDIBLE.

Man I used to play holes in my Donald Lawrence Christmas CD. That was until I purchased this CD....MAN! Fred is a bad man! I remember I played this CD everyday after I purchased it. Even after Christmas! I'm talking like 6-7 months after Christmas(although not everyday), especially "He Is The Reason". This CD is sure to bless your soul and remind you of the true reason for the season. "His Name Is Jesus" is a wonderful beginning to this project. It's another song that can be played year round. My favorites are "Go Tell It On The Mountain", "Just Remember", "Christmas Everyday", and "He Is The Reason". I love these songs. These are the best songs on this album. When you listen to this album, you'll know why. Some of these songs sound like he wrote them for Commissioned, especially "We Sing Glory". "God Has Been So Good" is sort of a laid-back groove and it's great traveling music. All the songs on this album are great and when you listen, you'll find yourself continuously hitting the repeat button. If you're looking for some great Christmas music-whether you want to groove or just think about the birth of Jesus- this album will not disappoint. Be Blessed

5.0 out of 5 stars Watch God work this man!, March 13, 2002
This review is from: Fred Hammond Christmas: Just Remember (Audio CD)
Awesome vocalist and biblical poet, Fred hammond is not just any gospel singer. With all the secular visions of Christmas, Fred puts the Christ, back into Christmas. Every song from start to finish is a great and wonderful reflection on the awesome birth of Jesus, and the love of God that fred wants to share with all who listen. This is a must buy for anyone! Especially teenagers who have a difficult time finding decent gospel music.

Fred Hammond has allowed God to use him tremendously once more! From the first track you are awed at the lyrical angles he takes. It took two thousand years for someone to write a song from Joseph's standpoint! I am not surprised that it was Fred Hammond who did. All I can say is may God continue to bless you Minister Hammond! This cd is a keeper!

What more can be said about a man that is annoited? I have yet to buy a project with Fred on it that I was disappointed in...and that goes back...way back to the first Commissioned. You have been an inspiration in my life Mr. Hammond and I am certain in others as well. Defintely one of the top Christmas albums made by a Gospel artist...2nd right, right, behind Kirk.

5.0 out of 5 stars Keep it in the deck long after Christmas!, December 4, 2001

This review is from: Fred Hammond Christmas: Just Remember (Audio CD)
As always, Mr. Hammond puts forth another spectacular effort on his first Christmas. Who says he's at the end of his music career? In this day where many upcoming and even established Christian artists have compromised much in their music in order to gain a larger fan base, we should praise God for those like this man who have a sound all their own and have stayed with it. Anybody who has heard at least one of Fred's songs in the last 21 years (that's right, 21) can recognize his style and, more importantly, sense the sincerity in his words. The wonderful thing about Christianity and its music is that it has its own message, its own identity, and its own means of expression, all given by God. On an occasion such as Christmas, this becomes very important, because the people of this generation seem to be experimenting to find its own culture, especially in music. This is why nowadays you can turn to a "Christian" music station, then to a secular music station, and hear almost the exact same thing. Kudos to Fred for finding his identity in Christ and sticking to it. The tracks on this album could have come straight off either of his "Pages of Life" or "Purpose by Design" projects, because they have the same signature bass-laden beats and attention-grabbing ballad that Fred is known for. Among them are the first one, "His name is Jesus," and the last one "He is the Reason. The ones that makes one appreciate Christmas are "It Took A Child To Save The World" and "We Sing Glory"(which can also be found on "The True Meaning of Christmas, Vol. 3"). Overall, this is a wonderful CD to play for Christmas, and I'm certain someone out there will sneaking it in their system in the summer as well!
