3.0 out of 5 stars Cute. But not very useful
I bought one of these mitts for myself. I knew it was cute to look at, but I wasn't sure it would be very functional.

I was right.

The mitt itself is pretty small (think sock puppet). But more importantly, the mitt is really thin. So it doesn't do a very good job insulating your hand. I certainly wouldn't use it to hold only cast-iron...

I bought one of these mitts for myself. I knew it was cute to look at, but I wasn't sure it would be very functional.

I was right.

The mitt itself is pretty small (think sock puppet). But more importantly, the mitt is really thin. So it doesn't do a very good job insulating your hand. I certainly wouldn't use it to hold only cast-iron skillets while cooking, and even removing cookie sheets from the oven was nearly painful.

If I had to lift a heavy casserole dish out of the oven, I'm sure I would burn myself.

Bottom line: Much cuter than functional. I'd pass next time.

3.0 out of 5 stars it's more for stove top kind of heat, August 13, 2010

I bought this because it's so cute... and I kinda suspect it won't be thick enough and it's true. It is really thin, around 2-3mm and has some thicker bumps on it which is useless because the bumps are far apart from one another. It is very comfortable to hold stove top pot cover and handle but you cannot leave it on the pot handle (the C shape type handle). I did that and ouch! The mitten itself is hot. I wouldn't recommend to touch anything in the oven.

I still like to look at it on my counter. It puts a smile on my face every time I look at it.

I bought two of these for a holiday gift exchange. They were a very popular item. I thought they were so cute, I wanted to keep them for myself!

5.0 out of 5 stars A lovable "Oven Mutt", November 9, 2011

I got this because I needed an oven mitt and I thought it was funny.
It doesn't cover your whole hand and works mostly like a sock puppet but I like that because I usually have a hard time getting my hand in oven mitts anyway. This is great for something to put on quick and get a pan out of the oven.
As far as being kind of thin, it is guilty as charged. But I really only use it to move a pan from the oven to the top of the stove. I don't use it to hold onto pans the entire time I'm cooking or in the blacksmith shop.
It also works great for messing with your pet cat/dog/monkey/goldfish if you are so inclined.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cute but not entirely practical., March 29, 2011

I bought this originally because i was enamored with the idea of an oven mitt that could also double as a puppet. As it was noted in other reviews the silicone is not very thick so I tested it on something that was not very hot before trying to take something out of the oven with it. I found that it was not very effective with foods that needed to be heated for a while and almost dropped one thing i was holding with it due to the heat. I did find however due to it's size, i have been able to use it very successfully for microwaved dishes at work and clean up if anything is spilled on it is a snap making it easy and fun to store at my desk. It is definitely better than paper towels for grabbing reheated items from the microwave (which I had been using) and always gets a smile when i bring it out. Though it is not the most versatile mitt and by no means should be your only mitt it has been a fun addition to my collection.

4.0 out of 5 stars Hot heads - would like more, December 12, 2010

I thoroughly love this product, however I ordered TWO pink mouse hot heads originally & when they said it would be "early to mid Dec." before they would ship. They recommended that I choose something else available to replace it. I chose the dog, thinking I would receive 2 with a credit for the difference of the 2 pink mice. I received 1 orange dog and was charged for 2 pink mice. I still love the dog and gave it as a gift. Would order more but would like a credit for the original order.

This made for a cute gift for a dog lover who loves to cook, but I'm not sure it is the most functional oven mitt ever made!

I love it when I saw it online, and love it even more when I got it. This oven mitten in the form of a dog is not only adorable but works perfectly in the kitchen, for pots, pans, and most hot things use around the kitchen. Now I even bought 2 more.
