Difficult to use,
This review is from: Fred Ice Kebobs, Blue (Kitchen)
I liked the idea, but these are not easy to get out of the tray either without breakage or some part of the "stick" remaining uncovered. So they work as a stick of ice or frozen drink, but they rarely look very good. Sorry.

My Son Loves These!,

I have a six year old son with autism. One of my son's "stim" behaviors is to eat ice... all day... every day. The problem is, his little hands would get so cold from holding the ice. Not anymore! Because the ice is now on a stick, well, he's happy as a lark! I keep these kabobs in the freezer where he can grab one whenever he feels the need to chew.
I blogged about this on my site (charlieinwonderland.com) shortly after discovering the product and trying it out. I highly recommend these ice trays. They're great for anyone who likes to eat ice, or to stick in a drink (of course). We've also experimented with freezing juices. Works great!

A coooool little swizzle,

OK, these are really easy to make and easy to remove from the tray. They are exactly what you expect them to be. They'll be nice at parties, when friends are here, and while just hanging around with the hubby. However, as with everything, I have a few complaints.
Complaint #1: It doesn't make more than three. Hello?!? How often do you need only three swizzle sticks? Complaint #2: There is no frame or other means of support. So, unless you are extraordinarily adept, you will need to find an almost perfectly flat place in the freezer (not an easy task), place the tray with the sticks on the flat surface, and then use a small cup to fill up the slots with the water. Otherwise they are too floppy and water will go everywhere (trust me). Complaint #3: see compliant #1. I purchased two of these so that I can at least make 6. I think I'll crush up some of the mint in my herb garden so that I can make mojitos. I also want to try freezing fruit puree for those girly drinks. :) Maybe I can make popcicles . . . hmmmmmm.

Swizzle Cubes,

This is the easy way to stir AND cool your drink.
The nits to pick are little ones. Since the single ice tray you get produces only 3 swizzle kebobs at a time, for large party use you will need to purchase several. Freezing a lot ahead of time is out of the question because you only get 3 swizzle sticks. The flexible silicon tray makes ice cube removal easier, but it makes getting newly water filled trays into the freezer without spilling a pain. In addition getting your ice kebobs out of the tray is a bit tricky because they stick and break easily. In my experience the best method is to first pop loose the OUTER cubes and then to slowly push out the INNER cubes. Other swizzle cube options: Fred Cool Jazz Ice Cube Tray Fred Citrus Sippers Fred Ice Princess Star-Shaped Ice Cube Tray with Straws Now if this is your first introduction to Freds or Fred and Friends products, then I encourage you to checkout the others because NOBODY is producing cleverer (or wackier) products for your kitchen or party needs. A small sampling of those that made me stop and smile (and long for) follows: Fred and Friends Gin and Titonic Fred Cool Jewels Fred Zing! Catapult Spoon Fred and Friends Finger Food Fred Cool Shooters Shot Glass Mold Fred 12-Ounce Pick Your Nose Paper Cups, Pack of 24 Fred Toothpick Holder, Ouch

Cherries or pineapple anyone?,
By
This review is from: Fred Ice Kebob (Kitchen)
They ARE difficult to put in the freezer, requiring an absolutely level place AND it would be nice to be able to buy extra "sticks" to make a bunch of ice kabobs before company arrives (Now you have to buy at least 2 or 3 of the trays). BUT>>> if you cut open a maraschino cherry and wrap it around the "stick" or a piece of pineapple, blueberry or other fruit and freeze it with the ice (or fruit juice) it makes a very attractive swizzle stick.

Works well... would be better if it had more than 3 slots! But that gets you to buy more... Also, keep track of the sticks!!
