A clever design and, in theory, also a working salt shaker, but in practice it has two fatal flaws: One, the tiny hole in the side for filling it requires a funnel with a very small neck. It is not possible to fill the shaker directly from the salt box.
Two, and most critical, it is made of very thin glass and is extremely breakable. The first one I ordered (about 2 weeks ago) arrived broken inside the bubble wrap in its original box. Amazon quickly replaced it, and the new one came just a few days ago. It lasted three days on our dining room table before my 8-year-old set it down just a little too hard on a marble trivet, and it shattered. And no, it is not made of safety glass.
I loved the way it looks, but it just is not practical.
