3.0 out of 5 stars Great game, but a little too haunting for one of my childrn
My three year old loves this game, but my six year old is totally spooked by the ghost which has given her nightmares. The rest of the Freddie Fish games are not scary and all keep my kids totally absorbed for hours thinking and having fun.

This is a great CD. Something is haunting the school house and taking the kids toys. Freddi Fish and Luther are going to solve the day. My son is almost 4 and has enjoyed this Freddi Fish for hours and hours.

Some of the things that I like about this game-
Each time you solve the game and save the toys and school, the game changes. Some of the puzzles remain and others change and what you need to set the trap changes and so on. It's a different game every time. I think my son has played it four times and has yet to really repeat a scenario. Great!

There are problem solving puzzles and the answer isn't handed to you on a plate. For example, you have to figure out how to open the trophy case (in one scenario on this game) and only by talking to other sea animals do you learn you need a special card to take to a Mr. Triplefin.

You have to think creatively to solve the problems.

There are a lot of little things you can click on to watch them 'do things'. You might click on a little basket only to see a tiny crab run out and plant some flowers, they grow, and the crab goes back in his home. It's lots of fun.

One thing I don't like is I have yet to find a save option on this game. The later ones have a save option. So once you start a game it's hard to stop it because then you will have to repeat everything over again. It may be there, I have yet to find it and yet to make a large effort to figure out how to save a game so we can return to it.

Well worth it. My son started playing at age 3 and it was hard for him but at almost 4 it's just about right. I think it would be a great game for older kids too.

Enjoy.

We're big fans of all Freddi the Fish and Putt-Putt computer games. This one is no exception. My preschooler enjoys a game that challenges him and he can "win" in about an hour. Initially he and I ran through the whole game to solve it. After that, he plays the game without my help and likes to try to remember where each clue is. The great part is that the clues are different each game. Some are the same, others are different which makes for a more challenging game.

This is a great game for kids. My 4 year old just loves playing it because it's challenging enough to be interesting, but easy enough that it's not frustrating. The object is to build a trap to catch the ghost and for that you need to find 5 things. Finding each piece requires a 2 step process, something my daughter caught on to about halfway through the first time. Although the box says it's different everytime you play it, there are only about 5 variations of the game. Still that offers great variety for the price and by the time my daughter got through them all, it was still a bit challenging to remember the tasks she had to do. I do think an adult should play along the first time to point out the "ghost" is just some bad fish in disguise and make light of some of the scarier characters. But, there are plenty of friendly characters too. I've seen other reviews mentioning the lack of a save feature. It does have one (press the "S" key), but the instructions don't mention it-the website technical support section explains the save feature. Overall a great game that is highly recommended-we'll definitely be getting more Freddi Fish games in the future.

Like its predecessors, this Freddi Fish adventure continues to stimulate young minds to remember items and clues for later use in the game. My 3 year-old loves to play the game over and over and I love the fact that the clues needed to solve the game change each time. Graphics and sound are great!

We ordered Freddi Fish 2, 3, 4, and 5. All are just wonderful! My three year old daughter loves them. They have staying power, meaning they do not get old very quick like a lot of the other children's games. They have excellent learning value. I would highly recommend any and all of them for someone from the 3-5 age group.

This review is from: Freddi Fish: The Case of the Haunted Schoolhouse (CD-ROM)
Both my 3 1/2 yr. old and my 6 yr. old daughters play this game. They both absolutly LOVE it!!! It utilizes problem solving and memorization in a wonderfully fun way. Even my husband and I have played this game as well. We have had to now go and get the other Freddi Fish games, because our children enjoy them so much. I would definitely recommend this game!!!

My 3 year old grandson and I are great fans of Freddi and Luther (Freddi's sidekick). They are both fantastic, entertaining, and educational. This CD-Rom is just beautiful. The graphic are wonderful, the music is light and cheerful, and the mystery solving is so much fun. My grandson loves all of the Freddie mystery solving CD's especially Freddi the Fish and the Case of the Missing Kelp Seeds. You will not go wrong by purchasing this CD. Your children will love it and they will want all of Freddi The Fish CD's. Also, it was most enjoyable to find out that Freddi was a girl fish.

I gave my 3 1/2 year old grandson his first Freddi (Haunted Schoolhouse) for Christmas, and it's fast becoming the game he always wants me to play with him. Animation is fantastic! Only problem we're having is there seem to be no instructions for playing "Maze Madness". There are all these wonderful looking mazes, but I can't figure out what we're supposed to do with them. Makers of the software need to fix that part. Other than that, the game is great fun!

My girls age 3 & 4 could play this game for hours. It's a new game every time you play. The girls get SO excited when they finally capture the ghost! I recommend this for anyone with kids age 3-6. I even enjoy playing it myself!! lol Hint: if you do not get a booklet with the game, press F1 key & print off the game suggestions. I just bought 3 more Freddie Fish games for my girls-that's how much they love this one!! Worth the money!!!!

= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Freddi Fish: The Case of the Haunted Schoolhouse (CD-ROM)
My five-year-old has played it several times and loves it. I find it helps to make a map and note what mission it gives you at that spot. That way, when you find the object, you know where to take it to get credit or the next item you need. There are two versions, with slightly different missions, of the game; this way, you can enjoy playing it twice.
