About the Author

Freddy: A Love Story is Ray Oliver's fifth book - but his first biography. He continues to teach English and creative writing at Clinton High School. He loves to travel with his wife Cindy and he enjoys rooting for the Vols. His recent selection to the C.H.S. Wall of Fame (along with Freddy) was one of proudest moments of his life. --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

I have known Freddy for nearly 30 years. I could not wait to read this book when I found out it was being written. This is the best book I have ever read. This is not a biased opinion since I know Freddy and the author. These "love stories" will make you laugh and cry. Please read this book and get to know Freddy. I am honored to know him.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It has brought back so many memories of my childhood growing up in Clinton where I occasionally ran into Freddie. He has always been one special, unique person that would put a smile on your face. Thank you Ray for making it possible for all of us to enjoy the many "Freddie" stories.

I saw Freddy for the first time about 18 months ago and often we would eat lunch at the same place Freddy ate. I didn't know that there was a book being written about him nor did I know that there was a street named after him. It seemed that everybody knew Freddy. One day as we were having lunch Freddy came over to speak to my office assistant who I found out was his girlfriend when she was in high school. Freddy has many girlfriends. My wife, Karen, asked him to sit down. Since then we've had lunch with Freddy almost every day. Simply because just being around Freddy makes you feel good. I read his book to learn more about him and was astounded as I got to know him to realize that he was one of the smartest man I've ever met.

This book is a must-read and should be read to elementary school kids starting around the fourth grade to let them understand how special people can be.

Having grown up in Clinton, I was touched and blown away by the book. The stories capture the true essence of Freddy and his beloved town. He has touched all of our lives and made us all a little bit better by being our friend. My husband and I both laughed, cried, (and sometimes laughed til we cried) and couldn't put the book down until it was finished. Thank you Ray Oliver for writing this touching story about our small town hero. And kudos to Katherine for her wonderful photography skills - they truly captured the spirit of all things Freddy.

I know and love Freddy. I was blown away by this book. It not only captures the true essence of Freddy but also of the town of Clinton, TN. Some of the stories about Freddy I had never heard, but knowing Freddy they all have the ring of truth to them. You won't be able to put it down once you start reading it.
