5.0 out of 5 stars Greatness!
The great comic that could have been a horror fans dream movie. This story is very good, everything you'd expect without being too predictable, granted it is horror so some things are expected at least from a real horror fan. Freddy, Jason and Ash are a great combination, and the writing gave a great way for all three to fight each other. Ash has great one liners while...

3.0 out of 5 stars Better kept in comics than on screen
Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash picks up right after Freddy vs. Jason (with a brief visual summary of what basically happened), even some of the characters are kept over before Ash arrives in the Crystal Lake area. It pays direct homage to the previous films, which was nice to see, but is its own story, and probably works better as a comic than a film ever would be.

Freddy vs.

I don't find that it is badly drawn, but there is a unique style, at times more "cartoony" than realistic. But there's a nice attention to detail and a likeness that ranges from decent to really good (Ash has an extra "groovy"-chin in this one).

In staying true to the mythology, there is a lot of combining and reusing of old details, but it's still a pretty thrilling graphic novel page turner. Ash speaks entirely in his "sugar for the king, baby"-style all the way, Freddy is almost comic relief in all his crazy "segments", and Jason is brutal as ever, and even gains a slight new advantage in this one.

Overall, I can recommend FvJvA. If you find that you're able to sit through Freddy vs. Jason at least somewhat entertained, this is an even crazier mashup in a fun format. There's also an afterword from the makers, explaining a little bit of the origins and how the whole thing came about (which ends in a big heap of appreciation, and that gets to be a bit much).

The great comic that could have been a horror fans dream movie. This story is very good, everything you'd expect without being too predictable, granted it is horror so some things are expected at least from a real horror fan. Freddy, Jason and Ash are a great combination, and the writing gave a great way for all three to fight each other. Ash has great one liners while kicking butt, Freddy is wicked and plays with his victims in fun ways, Jason's is an unstoppable killing machine. The side charcters are funny and traditional in horror without being annoying (unlike those in new Jason movies). The art is great. The deaths are great both what we've come to expect and inventive. The only bad thing about this book is it didn't become a movie. You would think after something so great to base a movie on, they would. I guess they will continue pumping out crappy re-imagenings rather then the perfect sequel to Freddy vs Jason. Granted F vs J didn't do very well and sequels rarely do as good as the first but when Evil Dead fans are involved, tickets would get sold.

3.0 out of 5 stars Only for fans, May 17, 2010

Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash is a comic book totally made for fanatics of those sagas, the script is no spectacular and the art isn't amazing. Even if you like horror comics/graphic novels, this isn't one I'll recommend, but if you liked Army of darkness or Nightmare on Elm Street of Friday the 13th, in comic or movie, you surely will enjoy this. The reading is very fast and if you are familiarized with the characters you'll digest this book with no problem.

4.0 out of 5 stars picks up where freddy vs jason left off, January 1, 2010

Ok so its not the freddy vs jason vs ash movie we'd all hoped for but it will have to do. First let me tell you that this is the complete series even though it shares its cover with a regular issue ( I wasnt sure when I ordered mine). If your looking for a scary comic go elsewhere because this is more funny than anything. I liked this comic because of freddy and jason. Even though i loved the evil dead movies i didnt really think ash was that "groovy" in this comic even though it centered around him mostly. You can tell that the writers and artist normally make ash comics because he the main focus and the only one they can consistently draw correctly. I give this book a 4 out of five for the hardcore fans of freddy, jason, or ash. 2 out of 5 for the casual comic reader.

4.0 out of 5 stars I Do Love A Good Good Vs. Evil, December 13, 2009

I enjoyed this comic/movie icon smashup. It was entertaining and followed the characters pretty well (we all know you're the brains of this outfit Freddy). The art is beautiful (lots . . . and lots of blood) and the story is kind of predictable but you have to know that going in. Overall it was thoroughly entertaining.

4.0 out of 5 stars awesome, August 27, 2009

A Great Trade, I wish this would become a movie. Basically this starts off where the freddy vs jason movie ends. So it seems it might become a sequel to the movie.

lots of killing and gore as usual, also it carries freddy's wit.

This was exactly what I was looking for. Excellent artwork and story line. The only disappointment here is that this won't be a movie.

2.0 out of 5 stars A rehash of the movies, September 30, 2008
This review is from: Freddy Vs. Jason Vs. Ash (Paperback)
I'm a MAJOR fan of the Evil Dead Trilogy, Army of Darkness Vs Marvel Zombies, some of the Jason and Freddy movies, and the Freddy Vs Jason movie. This book was a disappointment on so many levels. The art, in my opinion, was pretty bad. There was a lot of times where Ash did not look like Ash, none of the women looked like "sugar babes"(as Ash would put it) and the deaths...were boring. Jason was the only thing the artist got right. Story wise, it was a lot of rehashing of what fans already know from the movies like "my hand went bad and I lopped it off..." and the Freddy vs Jason segments felt like a repeat from the movie, with Ash joining in to fight for a second, only to get thrown out of something, more or less making him a fifth wheel. I was expecting an epic trade of one liners between Freddy and Ash but sadly there wasn't any. Just a lot of talky about what Freddy wants to do and some brief trash talk. The kind you hear in a kindergarten playground(you know, where the two kids really really hate each other) Everyone else whose name is not in the book's title are lame cardboard cut-outs of the most annoying stereotypical teens. I wish they did better with what they had.
