***FREE CITY/Lunatics + COUNTRY GRAMMAR/Nelly=10 stars***, July 5, 2001
If you liked Nelly's "Country Grammar" this album will rock your world. "Country Grammar" set it off for the lunatics. When I first heard City Spud rhyme on the single "Ride Wit Me" and the rest of the lunatics on "Batter Up" and "Steal The Show" I couldn't wait for the release of their album. This album is everything I hoped for. "Free City" basically picks up where "Country Grammar" left off. If you think this is just another Nelly album your far by wrong. Even though Nelly features in almost every track he doesn't stand out too much, he gives his boys Kyjuan, Murphy Lee, City Spud and Ali their share of the spot light. Now, after listening to the album I can understand why Nelly was the first lunatic to go solo. All the lunatics are great to listen to. They each have their own flow and their own style, but nelly is definitely the most talented and well rounded. I do think Nelly's album "Country Grammar" is a little better, but "Free City" is sure to go at least platinum. This album is fantastic from start to finish. "S.T.L" starts the album out while "Love You So" ends the album. Both these tracks are decent, but my favorite are... #4 SUMMER IN THE CITY-(crank the volume up and just chill crusin down the highway) #7 MIDWEST SWING-(hot beat...decent song) #9 LET ME IN NOW-(wierd song in a great way, sort of like a cool remix to E.I. and Country Grammar) #14 JANG A LANG-(my favorite track on the album...just have to listen to it) #17 HERE WE COME-(Nelly's solo with a great lyrics and a hot beat) It's great to see the lunatics bring something new to hip-hop. If your lookin for some hot summer beats this album is for you. The St. Loui boys are here to stay!!!

Just that fresh., January 24, 2004
This CD is definitely one of my all time favorites. I bought this CD on a whim, after hearing them on a few of Nelly's tracks. I figured, it couldn't be that bad. But yeah, they were better than good. I actually like this CD more than Nelly's combined. After hearing this CD, i wonder why they picked Nelly to put out first. So here we go with the track by track reviews: First let me say - the MBD Skits aren't necessary - but they're real & a little funny. "S.T.L.'- Great Intro. Nice beat. 5/5. "Okay" - Ali makes this song great. Nice beat. Real catchy. 5/5. "Summer in The City"- This isn't my favorite song. Not bad. It's a great song to turn up in the summer & just cruise. 4/5. "Boom D Boom"- This is my least favorite song on the CD, but the CD is just that good. 3.5/5. "Midwest Swing"- Good single. Horrible video. Embodies midwest life. 5/5. "Show Em What They Won"- I like this song. Good beat. Reminds me of Steal the Show from Country Grammar. 4.5/5. "Let Me In Now"- Sounds like an extension of Country Grammar (the single). Not my favorite. Too much mediocre Nelly in this one. The woman randomly screaming doesn't help. 3.5/5. "Dis Iz Da Life"- Again, not my favorite. Gets better as you listen to it more. 4/5. "Scandalous"- Murphy Lee. He's OK on this song, but the beat is pretty good, so you can stomach it. 4/5. "Groovin' Tonight"- Brian McKnight. 'Nuff said. 5/5. "Jang a Lang" Talking about Jewelry & stuff. Good Song. Nice beat. 5/5. "Real Niggaz"- Funny chorus. Good song. 5/5. "Here We Come"- This is personally my favorite song on the CD. I don't know why. The beat is intoxicating. 5/5. "Love You So"- OK song. I liked it less as time passed. 4/5.

THE LUNATICS ARE THE BEST!!!!, July 6, 2001
FIRST, I WANT TO SAY THIS ALBUM IS WONDERFUL!!! I AM LISTENIN' TO IT RIGHT NOW. THIS IS SUCH A HOT CD. I GIVE THE LUNATICS 4 STARS FOR THIS ALBUM. I BOUGHT IT ON IT'S FIRST DAY OF BEIN' RELEASED AND I AM VERY PLEASED. THE WHOLE ST.LUNATIC CREW IS VERY TALENTED. ALL FIVE OF THEM CAN RAP. THE BEATS ARE GREAT AND IT'S NOT TOO SIMILAR TO "COUNTRY GRAMMAR". SONGS SUCH AS "DIS IZ DA LIFE", "SUMMER IN THE CITY", "LET ME IN NOW", AND "MIDWEST SWING" JUST MAKE ME WANNA DANCE. THE SONG "GROOVIN' TONIGHT" W/BRIAN MCKNIGHT IS A SONG YOU CAN CRUISE TO IN YOUR CAR OR JUST KICK BACK TO. THE PRODUCTION WAS DONE VERY WELL AND THE BEATS ARE JUST BANGIN'. IF YOU BOUGHT NELLY'S "COUNTRY GRAMMAR" ALBUM AND YOU HAVEN'T BOUGHT "FREE CITY" GO PICK UP "FREE CITY" 'CAUSE YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED.
