3.0 out of 5 stars Dana goes hardcore
This german maxi single comes from the post "Eurovision win" period. Originally the song has been written and performed by Stevie Wonder. I don't have to add that Dana's version is quite distant from its predecessor...

4.0 out of 5 stars Not bad at all!, April 13, 2002
This review is from: Free (Audio CD)
So, it's time for another review. Well, here goes.
First of all, the first time I saw this cd, I did not believe that Dana International was a Transexual. Especially with a body like that on the front cover. The music is great, and there are more than one style of songs on it.

The reason why I decided to buy "Free" (Import), was because of the song Diva, which won Dana 1st Prize for the Eurovision contest in 1998. After I heard that single, I figured why not buy the ultra glamorous album of Dana?
So, with it in my hands, I can now say that seeing is believing.
Honestly, the first time I heard the song "Diva", I was with my ex-partner, and that song was recorded onto a tape we played in the car!

Most of the tracks on the cd are of dance floor style. I like the sound of the Isralie background music and the many vocal additions to Dana's songs. Since buying the cd, I realize that Dana International goes way beyond the song "Diva". There's much appreciation for this cd, as far as originality goes. My favourite songs are: Free, Glamorous, This is the night and Diva.

This is the cd tracklist:
1-Dror Yikra 2-Free 3-Flower Vendor 4-Love is all there is 5-Until the end of time 6-La Vita E Bella 7-Glamorous 8-I love
9-This is the night 10-If you don't love me 11-Woman in love
12-Free (remix) 13-Diva 2000 (remix) 14-Woman in love (remix)

If you like club-floor style music, then Free is for you. I don't regret buying the cd. Hope this review has helped you.

5.0 out of 5 stars St. Wonder has written a good song:DANA's voice makes it TOP, October 16, 1999

This is the brilliant DANA INTERNATIONAL from Israel/Tel Aviv, Winner of Eurovision 1998. Her voice is sensual, erotic and brilliant. The Song is original from Stevie Wonder, who has made a very good job as composer, but DANA (singer of 1995, 1996, 1997 in Israel with brilliant CDs there and copies in Egypt and arabian Aeras) as a musical light in a starless sky RULES!!!!!!!!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Dana goes hardcore, May 25, 2011
This review is from: Free (Audio CD)
This german maxi single comes from the post "Eurovision win" period. Originally the song has been written and performed by Stevie Wonder. I don't have to add that Dana's version is quite distant from its predecessor...
Track list:
- single version - basic and in my opinion the best available here

- alternative version - which could be also called "dub" as there is almost no text in it, but...it defends itself, it's a very good mix

- c&n remix - here we go: hardcore phase 1. Very strong beat (you can be sure your neighbours will here it!) and darker feeling. Well, could be worse, couldn't be?

- dj orson w. remix - yeah, it gets worse - check hardcore phase 2. My personal name for this remix? "Sudden death on a dancefloor". THE WORST TRACK HERE.
Rare item, but I wouldn't recommend it to people who seek for another "Diva"-kind-of hit.

3.0 out of 5 stars Israeli Transexual Diva!, November 8, 2001

DAVID HANSON (Seattle, WA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Free (Audio CD)
Dana International had recently appeared in the spotlight via Eurovision. Winning the competition is nothing short of amazing being a transexual from Israel. Although her vocal talent is weak, this album is a very up beat dance album with tracks in English as well as Hebrew. This Israli version of the album contains 3 extra remixes and a video of her Barbara Streisand cover "Woman In Love".
