This album has a hard-driving dance beat that even dysfunctional Trekkies will be able to sway to. Shatner rapping is worth double the price of the album.

Fans of Free Enterprise will be pleased to find here a soundtrack as quirky and lovingly assembled as the movie itself. If anything, the film's musical counterpoint is more accessible, while still having some lovely pluses for the fans in its packaging and two William Shatner tracks. The musical tastes of the filmmakers lead to an album that works equally well at a party or soundtracking a late-night drive.
Select highlights: "The Great Bank Robbery" starts off the album with an infectious bass riff and some terrific jazz grooves. "Apples & Diamonds" by Bertine effectively updates Dusty Springfield's "Spooky" in a great lounge-worthy track. "Metaphysical" - The energy ratchets up a couple of notches on Sumack's alt-rock contribution, with some deep percussion and interesting lyrics about resisting the temptations of gurudom. "(Getting Some) Fun Out Of Life" - The lovely (especially in voice) Madeleine Peyroux provides this Ella Fitzgerald standard, which accompanies the cute romantice montage in the movie. "She Sells Sanctuary" (extended version) - For once, an extended version worth the extra couple minutes, as this classic Cult song can never go on too long. And of course, William Shatner's tour-de-force "No Tears For Caesar" with the Rated R. A hilarious and catchy recitation of Marc Antony's funeral speech for the fallen Roman leader, the film's finale piece is followed after a few minutes of silence by a track based around a deleted scene. Shatner recalls a harrowing and eye-opening Rescue 911-like experience in a burning building. It goes without saying that these last two tracks are worth the price of admission.

If you've seen "Free Enterprise," this is a must-own CD. It's great to hear the music from the movie in its complete form and the packaging is great. I'm not even a big fan of this kind of music but because it's related to the movie it's very enjoyable. I'd recommend it even if you'd never heard a Shriekback song until you saw the movie (like me). There's also a glossary of "Free Enterprise" lingo in the back of the jewel case---a pleasant surprise I had no idea about! I love this CD almost as much as I love the movie.

I am not a trekkie, and I want to say that I love this movie. The song "Bill" sings at the end is great, and is called "No Tears For Caesar". Also, during the credits a great song called "Satellite" is sung by Lauren Christy. On the soundtrack I think it is the untitled song at the end, but I don't actually have the soundtrack. I was still able to rate the CD because of seeing the movie and knowing what the songs are by the credits at the end. Satellite is too good a song not to name it and give Lauren Christy credit for it.
