Reggae singer Siccaturie Alcock a.k.a. JAH CURE has released his first disc, "THE ALBUM THE TRUTH." JAH CURE's premiere album has been released while he sits in jail. The 21-year old singer is currently living out a 15-year sentence. JAH CURE, who hails from St.James, had a thriving career at the time of his arrest and seemed set for a bright future as he was one of the leading young roots-style artists in Jamaica.
JAH CURE'S disc, "THE ALBUM, THE TRUTH" is essentially a collection of various singles, but it also features a couple of tracks previously unreleased. The lyrics are pure cultural- roots-style, with some excellent harmonies and dancehall "riddims." JAH CURE'S voice fluctuates between singing and a bit of toasting ( that's rapping to my fellow Americans). JAH CURE'S influences include singers such as Yami Bolo, Beres Hammond and Lionel Ritchie, however he has a style that is distinctly his own.
On the opening track, "SONGS OF FREEDOM," JAH CURE seems to be addressing the issue of being behind bars. In his lilting voice he sings, "Songs of freedom I cry, Blackman wipe the tears from your eye." Like much good poetry, the song has two meanings. Although this song is about his incarceration in jail, it is also about the struggles of all disenfranchised black people. This becomes apparent when he continues singing, "So many years of slavery, still they hold on, Blackman don't get weary, Jah, Jah never gone, them a work with conspiracy, I and I still trod on..."
THE FIREHOUSE CREW lay down the rhythms on most of the songs. Their well seasoned session playing has been the backbone for many artists. The band's modern dancehall-style lends itself well to JAH CURE'S majestic voice and his reality and spiritual based tunes.
The two duos on this album are simply "irie.

Before I got this album, I wasn't too familiar with Jah Cure, in fact the only time that I had even heard his voice was on his combination tune with Kalonji "King of the Jungle" and that tune was pretty good, but not great. But his album is another story. The biggest thing about this album is the first 5 cuts. The first 5 tunes are the greatest opening on a reggae cd that I've heard since Black Woman & Child. Songs of Freedom kicks it off with one of the coolest most powerful tracks available anywhere, very uplifting; on Sunny Day the vibes continue on this masterful track, then Jah Cure and Spectacular absolutely kill it on Chant, on Jah Bless Me he rides with beautiful lyrics, "I know jah jah bless, no wicked man can test me, no matter what they try", and then my favorite cut on the album with the very underrated conscious dj Jah Mason, Working So Hard, it reminds me a little of an old Sizzla and Luciano combination tune Jah Blessing. Perhaps the two can be so lucky as to have careers like Luciano and Kalonji, because the potential is there. Over the next 7 tunes, the beautiful vibes clearly continue, with excellent tunes like Guide Us Jah, Praises, Spread Jah Love and Move On. Overall, I say get this one, it would probably help if you had at least a slight of familiarity with artists like Sizzla, Luciano, Capleton, Anthony B etc. because that is same type of message that this Bobo sings about. Jah Cure is simply to good not to pay attention to.

Once again, another great artist has emerged from Jamaica bringing nothing but positive lyrics to the listening community. His style alone has amazed a lot of people.Although this you artist is currently in jail serving a 15 year sentence which i am positive he hasen't comitted,he spreads a message of having pride and courage and to always fight for freedom in songs like "who's gonna fight" & "songs of freedom",his opening track. If you don't have this album,i suggest you obtain it by any means possible and stay tuned in for upcoming releases because i am certain that he will continue spreading the positive message.

Free Jah's Cure is an amazing piece of work. Jah Cure's vocals and lyrics are just unreal. If you want to truly feel reggae music then look no further than this album. But don't take my word for it--just lend your ear to this reggae titan.
