I found this CD in the free disc bin at work -- I haven't stopped playing since. LaShell Griffin is amazing - her voice is just so inspiring(think back to early Whitney Houston, before the drugs and Bobby). But make no mistake about it, she has her own unique talent. Every song she sings invokes such emotion, you can really feel her spirit. My favorite song is "Free," it brings me to tears every time hear it. Now, I can go on my soapbox about how sad it is that truly gifted singers [like Ms. Griffin and other like her]don't get the kind of airplay they deserve. But I'm gonna save it for another review, as her music has put me in a peaceful place. I would just like to [very] highly recommend that everyone buy this CD. Good music is still alive and well - this is good music.

I hadn't planned on buying this, but for some reason I did. This is a wonderful driving CD. I was pleasantly surprised that her husband is on it and has a strong voice singing Faith with LaShell. My favorite song is Get Away. For this song, I program repeat in the car. It's one of those songs when hearing it once is not enough! The only thing I don't like about Get Away are the shout-outs. Why? The proper place for this is on the CD's jacket. I would classify her music as Chrisitan with a hint of R&B.

When I saw LaShell Griffin win Oprah's Pop Star Challenge, I couldn't believe that such a beautiful voice had gone un-discovered for so long! This debut cd is a beautiful compilation of inspiration songs that will make you happy you purchased it. This stay at home mother of five definitely sings from her heart. It's the kind of cd that you can pop in the car, your computer or your home system and just be mezmerized over and over again. LaShell has the kind of voice that we have been missing and that is so rare in today's music world.

My favorites are "Free" and "Learn to Breathe". Buy it! Buy two or three...and don't forget to tell a friend! You won't be disappointed!!

Sometimes stardom comes at an early age, sometimes it never happens,but for others it takes just that little bit longer. the question is how long is it meant to last? unfortunately with the "sexual image driven industry" true talent often falls by the wayside. lashell has true talent and her album is a testament to that. i so hope the music industry & fans alike supports her theres too much of the 'usual-stuff' out there with no real positive message. anyway, back to lashell; at times her voice is reminiscent to donna summer's ( especially on " i can only imagine"): she as a good range and her voice compliments the songs on the album, this is a gospel album that is easy to take in. the music range from the comtemporary to R&B, with a couple of film sound track-types thrown in and in my opinion it works. this is real music for those that wants to chill out and listen with out being influenced by synthesized hip-hop beats (which is good in itself) although the album has some uptempo beats. "free" is a solid album from a true artist that i would like to see live in concert; Britain's waiting, i'm waiting lashell, well done on your first 'of many to come' album.

I ordered this as an extra just to complete an order. Now, I can't stop listening to it. LaShell, thank you for sharing your blessed voice with the rest of us. I love every last song on this CD. My favorite songs are Get Away (I have 2 small ones), I Can Only Imagine (my heart pounds with this song), He's Coming Again (I hold my breath, too). I love them all, REALLY. Please do another CD, although I'm sure I'll still be listening to this one even when the 2nd one comes.

Want to get energized and feel uplifted? Then get this CD! I have never written a review before, but had to about this CD. EVERY song is fantastic! Upbeat, wonderful word choice and addictive! It's is hard to believe that this is her first CD. Look for more by her for sure...a definite MUST BUY!

This is a great cd....I never watch her on the Oprah Winfrey Show.Simply because I'm not an Oprah fan...But i decided I'd get this cd after hearing her sing on the internet.I'm glad I did.Its an excellent CD.After listening to it the emotions vary from inspired...happy...motivated and more.

Lashell Griffin is a true example of what other seasoned vocalists can't understand.. stand firm with positive lyrics, great music and pure vocals and you wont go wrong. True,having millions of viewers watch you win the oprah challenge didn't hurt. But now that the dust and excitement has cleared, what stands before us is a true vocal talent. I immediately thought it was Martha Wash.,Lashell vocals remind you of Chante Moore, Deniece Williams, JIll Scott... the list goes on.. Buy this cd this definitely won't be her last!!

After reading some of the other post I was skeptical about buying the CD but I must say they were well worth it. Lashell is a wonderful artist with such versatility. . By versatility I mean she has the ability to change her voice with the mood of the song. I mean a lot of her songs sound different and have a different field. At times I have to listen hard because she sounds like a different artist. She just has a way with color that is unique in it's self.
Some people have downed the song because of what feel is lack of "Lyrical content." I personally don't see it. I'm a musician myself and a lot of times you don't need to say a whole lot to convey a message. I just wish more people knew about her, because she is still rather unknown! I think this CD is wonderful I love almost all of the tracks but "Free" is my anthem!
This album is considered by some as a mix between Gospel and R&B I just define it as good wholesome listening music!

I first heard LaShell the night she won on Oprah and she was great. This cd just took it to another level. It is so uplifting and inspirational. It truely is a cd that you need to have at the office, the car and at home. It is so humble, it actually makes you feel free. LaShell, may God continue to bless you and you continue to give him all the honor, glory and praise......YOU WILL MOVE MOUNTAINS!!!!
