5.0 out of 5 stars of all the reggae I know, the very most special, November 22, 2003
This review is from: Free Man (Audio CD)
Ohhh this CD is so great! It just feels like Burning Spear completely achieves what almost everyone else making reggae music tries to but can't. Every song on this cd is so so solid -- mystically, rhythmically...definitely get this CD. Right away.

4.0 out of 5 stars what a great disc, May 12, 2004
This review is from: Free Man (Audio CD)
As a person who is just beginning to explore raggae music I am extremely impressed with this cd. Knowing that Burning Spear is one of the original rasta's really makes me appreciate and love this cd more because it's truly inspiring to see somebody who has given their entire life to music. I would recommend this to both experienced and novice raggae fans.

4.0 out of 5 stars Burning Spear is back, April 13, 2004
This review is from: Free Man (Audio CD)
Burning Spear kind of lost it for me during the middle of his career (after the Live in Paris double album), but this is a great return to some honest, driving, roots reggae. Fantastic use of horns, as always, deep resonant harmonies, catchy chorus lines... Nobody does it like this. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5: well, there's only so much you can do with that sound. I can't seem to get tired of that sound, but others might be satisfied with the older albums.

4.0 out of 5 stars Last roots/ reggae band standing!!!, July 2, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Free Man (Audio CD)
Burning spear is the last roots band standing! Winston Rodney has been making music for over 2 decades but maneges to still sound fresh! You can't compare this to his older work but it's still better than 99% of all rootsbands coming out
Trust, We feel it, Not guilty, Hey dready, Rise up, They can't and changes are all quality songs. Especialy Changes, not guilty and Hey dready stand out. Burning spear just started their Free man tour and this could be the last chance for seeing Mr Rodney and his band perform live! If you have the possibility and the money for a ticket don't hesitate! Otherwise just go and cop Live at Montreux jazzfestival turn up the volume until you can't turn no more and feel the roots vibes flow through the air! Spark up a little purple haze or a big ganja spliff and you'll be chanting Jah no dead....Jah no dead Jah ....

Jah rastafari!!
