1.0 out of 5 stars Lots of information, little help, November 20, 2004
By Tamas Gloetzer (North Brunswick, NJ) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Don't let fool yourself. There is no free money lying on the street. Contrary to how this book is advertised, where they make you beleive that the government is only waiting for your call to give you money, you probably won't find too much usuful information in this book. Don't take me wrong, I'm not saying they're lying. There is 644 pages of government programs described in this book! Yes, it's not that easy to read through all this information. However, when you dig in, you will see that the key words for these programs are: "low income", "very low income", "senior", "disabled", "veteran" (they have an entire section), "emergency recovery" and "disaster recovery".
Out of the 644 pages worth of programs, I only found 6 (yes, six), which I would be eligible for. Out of the six 1 is a state program offering money (although I could not find it when looking at the website referenced), 2 offering free services and 3 offering discounts on government sales.
Reading through all this one thing is reassuring. I am NOT missing out big time on free government money. Remember:
"There is no such a thing as a free lunch..."

1.0 out of 5 stars Misleading commercials for a worthless book, January 24, 2005
I had high hopes for this book after seeing those late night infomercials which made it look like a wonderful source for grants and financial assitance.

Unfortunately, this book is simply a directory of public/government agencies that MAY offer assistance. The programs are very limited, and the majority of them are so restricted based on age, income level, or state that the average joe wouldn't qualify.

This book offers very little/no insight as to how to obtain the money when it comes to writing grants to the government agences.

The only people who will receive money as a result of you purchasing this book are the 2 authors. Don't buy into the hype of the commercial. Pass this one up.

2.0 out of 5 stars It's all government programs, August 23, 2004
By Sweet Girl (Arizona) - See all my reviews
This is a huge book and took a while to read. It's all government programs to pay your rent, bills, tuition, etc. I'd split the cost with a few friends and take turns reading it. Even used, this isn't a big bargain. There was a total of THREE programs that would be useful to me. Not that great.
