4.0 out of 5 stars Good book. Bad guy?
As I search the internet, I have seen many opinions about this book. They seem to be either Naysayers or Promoters. I'm writing this to curb that dynamic.
I'm an objective reviewer. I will share the facts and my experience in dealing with Kevin Trudeau's products, including Free Money. I will explain the PROS, the CONS as a basis for my final conclusion. Once...

I do, however wish I had my $16.59 back for this useless book. Redundant, poorly written, and waaaaaaaaaaay too hyped.

1.0 out of 5 stars ..., September 2, 2010
I seen the infomercial and was really exited but the book turned out to be more of the commercial. In the book, he told a lot about society and joked around but there wasn't a lot of real information on how to get money. A lot of facts with a small amount of useful information. A few web addresses or phone numbers scattered here or there. The first bit of info, a web address, wasn't until page 27...

A lot of common since things too. When you need money, of COURSE you are going to check old savings bonds, you would probably NEVER forget money in an 'old' bank account and taxes season is one of the biggest events of the year. SOMEBODY is going to ask you if you filed your taxes yet, so it's kind of hard to forget about tax money.

Also, everybody already knows about the Pell Grant and everybody knows about buying foreclosure houses for next to nothing, fixing them up and then selling them for a profit. Everybody knows about eBay and everybody knows about craigslist. Of COURSE you would sell your car if you really needed the money and people sell their various collections every day. That is what Pawn Stars is all about...

Simply not enough information. Free money they don't want you to know about? Seems like Kevin doesn't want us to know about it either. LOL.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't Get Ripped Off!!!!!!!, November 17, 2009
This review is from: Free Money "They" Don't Want You To Know About (Hardcover)
I usually don't write reviews but I felt that I had to warn people about Kevin Trudeau and his book. My dad surprised me and bought me this book along with Debt Cures hoping I could find some extra money for college. At the time I thought I had heard of Kevin Trudeau and I did some research on him and found out that he is just another con artist. I still read the books and I wasn't surprised at finding that I had wasted my time. If you are contemplating on whether or not to buy this book, you are just wasting your time doing that! DON'T BUY IT! He says that he is going to tell you where and how to get free money, but instead he gives you information you can find on the internet for free. The only reason this book is 245 pages is because he continually repeats himself. If you don't trust the negative reviews that you are reading about this book then I recommend that you buy this book off of Ebay. I found a seller on there that is selling this book and Debt Cures together as an ebook and is only $.99. So if you don't want to lose any money while trying to make money, I suggest that you don't buy this trash.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good book. Bad guy?, November 10, 2009
This review is from: Free Money "They" Don't Want You To Know About (Hardcover)
As I search the internet, I have seen many opinions about this book. They seem to be either Naysayers or Promoters. I'm writing this to curb that dynamic.
I'm an objective reviewer. I will share the facts and my experience in dealing with Kevin Trudeau's products, including Free Money. I will explain the PROS, the CONS as a basis for my final conclusion. Once you read this, you should be able to decide for yourself if this book is for you. This review assumes you've seen the infomercial or been exposed to some other sales pitch about this book.
Important Note: I have purchased Free Money. I'm in the process of reading it.
THE CONS:
When I was young, I had my Dad purchase Kevin's MEGA Speed Reading. It was 10 or 12 tapes of ineffective blubbering. It was a total waste of time and money. We sent back Mega Speed Reading and got our money back (less shipping).
Kevin does have a way of being extremely inflammatory in his commentary. Saying things like "THEY don't want you to know about." I do think his "They're all out to get me" routine is pure drama to interest you in what he's saying so he can sell more books and monthly newsletters. I wouldn't be surprised if all the naysayers weren't paid employees of Kevin to help keep the drama alive. If you read the negative reviews it appears to be the same style of writing and complaints under different screen names.
Yes, the information in his books can be found through other cheaper or free venues.
No, this is not the public service Kevin claims it to be.
THE PROS:
Conspiracy theories aside, I have noticed that the naysayers never say anything specific. "It's garbage!" and "Kevin's a con man!" and "Customer Service Stinks!" are the crux of they're complaints. The lack of specificity is a positive indicator. Kevin's trustworthiness and CS dept is irrelevant to the contents of his products. Whether he's the 2nd coming of Christ or the son of the Devil, the information in the book is useful. Once you read past the "They're evil" opinion section of his books, the information is valid.
Furthermore, you're not paying for a random Google search. You're paying for well compiled data and easy-to-follow instructions. Saying "The information is 'out there' for free." misunderstands why someone would purchase his book. The data in his books is well compiled and his instructions easy to follow.
I have used 10 Trudeau products (from Mega Memory to Free Money) and a sales training series he produced. When I applied his techniques, I gained positive results excepting Mega Speed Reading.
In my case, it's mostly wins and 1 loss. In general, Kevin's products have an "I'll inform you. Now you do it yourself." edge to them. I would NOT recommend them to people who are not self-starters.
Free Money is informationally valid because I do have Missing Money waiting for me. However, I have yet to mail the forms and ergo receive the money.
CONCLUSION:
Now that you've heard the bad and the good, since we're discussing books, let's take a NOVEL approach and be objective!
THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THE INFORMATION WILL APPLY TO YOU. There's a money back guarantee should you wish to return the book but you'll lose the shipping costs and you'll have to chalk it up to a partial loss. If that's going to stress you out financially, do NOT buy the book.
Knowing that however, if you're betting that the book is greater value than the cost, then get it. That's the risk vs reward ... plain and simple.
By the way, if you call the 800 number, buy the book and complain about the shipping cost, they'll throw in a $30 free gas card (at least, that was the offer I received). Evaluate if that works for your situation.
I personally opted to purchase through the internet because it's SO much cheaper.
That's my review of Kevin Trudeau's Free Money.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money on free money!, August 19, 2010

I found nothing but regurgitated information already available on the internet for free. This book is filled with a lot of useless information and anything slightly useful as I mentioned is available on the internet for free. Most of the book is filled with fluff to make the book look big. Kevin quotes a few web sites, provides information on common sense sources of money, and includes plugs from his other book Debt Cures. Really don't waste your money, you will be sorry you bought the book.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very Misleading, March 18, 2011

One thing I dislike about most reviews about this product is they mostly say fraud, don't buy, and fake, and so on without really saying why. So I hope I can not only tell you not to buy this but why as well. First don't buy this book. It is a waste of money. I was lucky I found it for $3 a far cry of the $29.99+ that the TV commercial and website was asking for it. Now the why you shouldn't buy it for the $3 dollars I paid for it. If you have read his website or have seen the TV commercial you know the claims he has made like go to a certain website type in you name to find money waiting on you. Take 15 minutes, that he tried it and found this amount while someone he knows tried it and found another amount. Yes, he does share the website but it's for if you have money you may have forgotten about when dealing with property. You type in your name and it gives a list of names. Question, are you the right Joe Blow that lived in this or that city. And if there is more than one name the same it takes some time. Without going on and on telling you each flaw it's best to say it does not deliver like he makes it sound. The book is standard size 245 pages, but if you took out the constant repeating of everything the book would be no more than 100 pages. With about a dozen chapters each touching on something new but repeating the last chapter, you get a new web address to try that may or may not work. This is misleading because he shows in his commercial other books that are hugely thick with addresses, phone numbers, and websites one could try and says what you are thinking who wants to go through all that, then says his book has done it for you. No, he or they pick topics that most people would want to know about, find just one website that could work, fills it in and then pitches the idea over and over through a book in hopes people will buy it. Some select few will find their names even find money while others not so much. Lastly, he didn't seem to talk to everyone, he focused on someone that might be starting a business that's ok, but say it from the start.

2.0 out of 5 stars Free Money "he" doesn't want you to know about--you don't have to buy this book, just check it out at the library, August 12, 2011
I am interested in free money. I need free money. If I could get a bunch of free money, the book would be worth the $25.99 cover price. I am so glad I checked this book out at the library instead of buying it. It is pure hype and fluff.

I can summarize the "strategies" in just a few words: check abandoned property websites, sell some of your unneeded or unwanted items, check for all your tax deductions, and apply for grants. The book gives some websites to aid in all these things, but most of the info could be gathered on-line.

Trudeau talks about some websites and services that will, for instance, let you search for abandoned property for a fee. However, he prefers the free sites which abound--you don't need to pay anyone to do this. I feel the same way about his book. Why would you pay for this book when you could gather most of the information from free sources elsewhere? He writes like a salesman and really hypes the info--which could have been boiled down to a newsletter or magazine article.

It is quite possible, even likely that many people who buy the book will find some abandoned property and be thrilled. Maybe some will be inspired to try E-bay or have a garage sale or shop around for better insurance or interest rates, etc. A rare few may apply for a government grant to fund their hobby--but I would be really surprised if any individual actually got money. I did use one of the strategies in the book and got some money. I filed my tax return and got a nice refund. Thank you so much Kevin!

These "strategies" are mostly common sense/common knowledge. I was a little intrigued by the possibility of getting a government grant, but by the end of the book I really had no more idea about how to go about applying for one, or even if there was a realistic chance that I could get money to pay my utilities or research a favorite topic--I really doubt there is.

My guess is that you make a whole lot more money writing about these strategies than actually using them. I have made great money buying used books and selling them on Amazon. Maybe you should try this. Send me $5 dollars and I will tell you how. Better yet, I will tell you for free in the style of Trudeau: just buy some used books at a thrift store and list them on Amazon. You could make thousands of dollars. There are rare and valuable books just sitting in thrift stores and garage sales all over the country--they are just waiting for you to pick them up and list them on Amazon. Look through your garage, basement, attic, grandma's house etc. The books are just sitting there waiting for you to cash in. Go get that free money!!!!

This is the kind of advice you will get in this book that "they" don't want you to know about!

1.0 out of 5 stars Not thrilled, October 21, 2010
My husband ordered this book. It hasn't arrived yet so I have no idea about the content. But I did recieve a phone call from a "company" that will connect us with grant writer/councilors. When asked about cost, or a fee, he admitted there is a fee from the writer/councilor. He didn't know how much it would be.

I also asked this young man how he got our information to call. He said his company doesn't work with Kevin Trudeau but he has hired them to answer questions that his book doesn't cover.....Sold our info maybe???

I will say, he was a very polite young man (not as professional sounding as I'd expect)

Just a heads up if you don't want your info out there, or people calling for more of your money. They certainly don't waste any time trying to get it.
