Do Not Buy This Album!, February 23, 2008

This is an incredible album from preeminent alternative rock icon Kristin Hersh. You should definitely own it. But don't make the foolish mistake of buying it. Instead, visit the band's website and download it for free. Lyrics sheets, cover art, and liner notes are all available, and the tunes can be downloaded as mp3 or FLAC. The band wants you to download it, rip it, burn it, and distribute it to all your friends. If you want to support the band monetarily, you can also make PayPal donations from the website. Save your money so you can buy "Golden Ocean", the full-length album, or one of Kristin Hersh's excellent solo albums. Maybe even catch up on the incredible Throwing Muses back catalog.

Kristen Hersh (& co.) sets aside the troubled folkster and channels in the most blisteringly georgeous angry guitarbassdrumscrankedto50ft set of 2006 by anyone. She sounds like the soccer mom from hell, in the best possible way. It is great to hear someone's voice get better and the music more edgy with age. Plus its creative commons...buy it here and support the band [...].
