5.0 out of 5 stars Inspiring - may change your entire view on education!, November 10, 2001

This review is from: Free Range Education : How Home Education Works (Paperback)
This new book outlines the differing philosphies of about 20 different British home educating families. Not written to any formula, but with enthusiasm and humour: each family describes briefly the reasons for opting to educate at home, and gives some idea of what they typically do. Many would be classed as 'unschoolers' in the USA.

As well as the main chapters, there are short reports and snippets written by home educated children and teenagers, and a wide variety of quotations from famous people through the ages, giving their view on education in general. There are also FAQ pages answering - among others -questions about socialising, general resources and science facilities.

The final chapter is a comprehensive overview of the legal system of home education in the UK. Anyone who has ever considered home education should read this book!
