2.0 out of 5 stars You may not love it...
Yes these guys are talented, but if your into the rapcore scene, you may not love it...save your money. Listen to it before you buy. Their message is awesome, so that's why I gave it two stars. Maybe it's because it sounds like the Newsboys trying to be hard that I didin't love it......I'm not one to be negative , but I just wanted to put a difference of opinion in the...

5.0 out of 5 stars awesome, August 18, 2000

This review is from: Free Signal (Audio CD)
When I first listened to this cd it didn't go out of my cd player for 3 months. I went to a Newsboys concert, never knowing who Beanbag was or how awesome they'd be. I knew that Beanbag was going to be the opening act, but having never heard of them I wasn't really excited or anything. I was looking down in my backpack when they came on the stage, searching for a glow stick. I didn't even notice them walking over to the mics, I don't even remember if the crowd started cheering or not. All of a sudden I hear this LOUD voice screaming "JESUS WILL NEVER LET YOU GO!!!" That was the start of the first song they sang, "Whiplash". It scared me so much that I jumped and landed on the 10 people surrounding me in the Newsboys' cramped air dome. I really liked Beanbag's music and their lyrics, but I was kind of in awe of everything going around me. Afterwards I became a fan for life, when I met Beanbag during intermission. I promise you, they are the nicest people that you will ever meet. I highly recommend this cd, especially if you like moshing-type music and/or you like christian music (if you like christian music but don't like moshing get it anyways, it has great lyrics)

5.0 out of 5 stars Pretty dang-diddly-dooggely-good, August 10, 2000
This review is from: Free Signal (Audio CD)
While I was browsing through my local christian bookstore I picked up the demo and listened to it. After the first three seconds I took it out and bought the CD. I only heard the first phrase,"Jesus will never let you go!" and bought it on the spot. While they're not as good as say POD or Stavesacre, they sure can rock out. I especially like the hidden tracks where they remix some of their tunes with jungle beats (my friend is a DJ and I really like jungle). If you like hardcore and are looking for lyrics that straight represent what it is to be a christian then check these guys out!!

5.0 out of 5 stars These guys are awesome!, March 18, 2000
This review is from: Free Signal (Audio CD)
I just saw these guys live. They are way cool! As in disagreement with one of the above reviews, I do think this CD should be classified with Christian and Gospel. That's what kind of music they play and that's what's in their lyrics. They have faith in Jesus. As do I. These guys bring it, and they bring it for God.

5.0 out of 5 stars go the bags!, January 30, 2000

Beanbag are awesome! They're from Brisbane here in australia, and the drummer, Phil Usher, is my percussion teacher! It is really good, buy it. BTW: i don't think it should really be classified as 'christian & gospel'

5.0 out of 5 stars Job well done, November 13, 2002

I personally love this album. I even like it more than the Welladjusted cd, which is also very good. The lyrics, so clever, and all of the songs have their own unique sounds. My personal favorites are of course "Happy Dispatch," and "Stale" but I find it so hard to choose. I also enjoy the remix Bonus track at the end. Really cool. Hunz' (lead singer) voice just makes the band, and its so melodic (in an awkward way). I just hope the rumors aren't true that they have broken up.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Masters of Dissonance strike again!!, September 19, 2007

This band never ceases to amaze me with their musical chops. I would love to see what CD's these guys have in their collections but I would venture a bet that they traverse rock, metal, rap, jazz, hip-hop, and maybe even a classical CD or two. Their music is a mixture of all these styles (minus the classical). I call them the Masters of Dissonance because they love dissonant notes, chords and chord progressions. This is definetly one of the most original sounding bands I have ever heard.

If you are a person who's open-minded musically and who likes a variety of styles of music then you'll become a fan of this band. If you are a one genre type of listener or like to play it safe with the music you listen to; don't even venture a listen because you won't like it because you won't be able to appreciate the awesome musicianship of these guys.

So, sit down into this Beanbag and get comfortable as they take you on a mind-blowing musical journey!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing!, May 18, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Free Signal (Audio CD)
I first heard Beanbag when they opened for Newsboys during their Love Liberty Disco tour (also an awesome CD), and I was totally blown away. Their sytle of playing was awesome and totally unexpected for me. It's very unlike most Christian groups. Beanbag has a sort of Metal/Hard Rock style of playing with vocals very much like Rage Against the Machine. I whole-heartedly recomend this CD. If you like groups such as Rage Against the Machine, Limp Bizkit, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and others like that but your parents have objections to you listening to them, then you should definetly buy this CD.... It's got an awesome sound, beat, and very good, devotional Christian themes.

5.0 out of 5 stars I didn't need to hear them live., April 19, 2000
By
Jeffrey D. Prill (Peoria, Illinois United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Free Signal (Audio CD)
Telling the truth in Christ is what it is all about, and I could tell that this band is spreading the Gospel to all ends of the Earth and obeying Christ's Great Commission to let all peoples hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This is high energy rock without equal--forget about Limp Bizkit and other similar bands--their message is from the sewer; concerned about only what this world has to offer them. But Beanbag ministers to the soul of man and tells us that there is more than materialistic need, or things to be concerned about. They tell us that Christ's death and resurrection was real and also explains that someday he will return to judge this world. We need to be prepared. That is what Beanbag is all about--Truth in Christ, and losing those things which can distract us from the real goal--the resurrection of Jesus Christ and our own suffering on that same cross. That is what Beanbag is all about. I didn't need to hear them live, I heard them well the very first listen and I recommend them to everyone; those in Christ and those who have not yet decided. Their message is powerful because what Christ did for us is just as powerful. That is the message!
