More About the Author

Born and raised in Chicago, Herda is uniquely positioned to promote both himself and his books via his numerous professional associations.

After attending public grade school, St. Rita High School, Columbia College, and DePaul University, Herda taught Creative Writing Workshop at the college level at several Windy City-area colleges. He worked for more than a decade as a columnist for The Chicago Tribune, as well as at numerous other Chicago-area newspapers and magazines, before becoming internationally syndicated. His column eventually grew to become the second most popular in the English-speaking world behind Dear Abby.

Today, Herda mentors new talent while writing opinion pieces and editorials that are distributed to all major media outlets. He makes himself available for radio and television appearances and is a periodic on-screen talent. He has worked with and befriended numerous high-profile corporate CEOs and media celebrities and sports personalities.

As president of the American Society of Authors and Writers, he has access to the Society's promotional arm, The Author's Place, which actively promotes new books for its professional members. Besides having published 80 books of his own, he has helped fledgling authors get their first books published by highly visible conventional publishing companies.

Herda is presently working on several of his own adult novels, children's books, and nonfiction books. He lives and works in the southwestern United States and is represented by Faye M. Swetky of The Swetky Literary Agency.
