5.0 out of 5 stars Meadowlark find new mountains to climb and get to the top!, May 20, 2001

This review is from: FreeFall (Audio CD)
When I thought that nothing could top their 'Legends of the Land' CD, along comes 'FreeFall'. This CD brings out the more upbeat side of Meadowlark, however is no less intense or melodic as their past work (no sell out, in other words). The guitar and flute work from Cyge and Trombetta are in top form, and will grip you from the first minutes of listening to this great CD.

I had the pleasure of listening to their music live and meeting them in person (my copy of FreeFall is signed!), and must admit that this is a group of wonderful people that deserve to be up there with other 'top' acts in this genre...

The comparisons to Nightnoise and Tingstad/Rumbel are very accurate, however if you are one who is turned off by this comparison, well...it only because of the presence of 'mellow guitar and flute'. As much as I like the new age 'gods' that I mentioned earlier, Meadowlark breathe some action into this genre without being overly derivative or 'smooth jazz'. What can I say - I think the world of them, and really think that you might too...

Since the departure of one of my fave bands - Nightnoise - Meadowlark have come along and saved the day in my mind. They don't want to be a 'replacement', nor would I expect that - however they have learned the best from the 'masters' and put it into practice in their music, and managed to create this and many other CD's of wonderful upbeat (and somewhat intense at times without putting you to sleep) CD's - FreeFall is one of them! Enjoy it if you dare!!!
