I recently got this CD after reminiscing about living in Austin and seeing bands like the Scabs and Spoon perform live. The CD definitely captures their vibe, but the mix is a bit lacking. The trombone overpowers the horn section and the guitar is a bit tough to hear at times, but I don't think it's enough of a reason to pass on this CD. Once you listen to it a few times, you can really picture them on stage at Antone's!!! I would recommend it for fans of Bob Schneider and the Scabs, but if you're new to them, you may want to listen to another CD first, or you may get an inaccurate impression of this talented band.

Schneider's had an interesting career that has spanned bands and musical genres, but I'll always consider him an Austinite. Some of the songs on this CD are fantastic. I've seen him live and he has an incredible talent for improvisation and melding different styles in a great sound. Plus, the chicks in Austin who went to the shows were always hot:)
