words cannot explain the experience of this music. to play it is to spread peace to all sentient beings. i play this CD often, even when i cannot personally listen to it -- for example if i am in another area of the house or leaving. life is improved by these tones, and my house retains the happiness vibrations. most highly recommended.

Raw Power,

The discipline and stamina these men possess is awe-inspiring. Why aren't we ALL Buddhists, when they can produce results like this? The throaty, multitonal sounds of the Tibetan monks is sure to pry you out of whateber musical space you were in before hearing them. They MEAN it, unlike almost every other singer out there. You'll find yourself carried along by the power of their muscular voices, and pushed just a little farther by their brother instrumentalists on bells and horns. The final track, a "jam" between them and the Mickey Hart ensemble, is also quite impressive and worthy of separate attention.

Well if you want to know what tibet chanting is about ,this is it.if not open minded you might not be open to this at first, but if you just think about what these peaceful monks are doing and understand why they are chanting you might change your mind and your outlook.I am very good friends with the lead chanter SONAM.He is not a monk anymore but he still has the peace that all sentient beings desire. This cd is wonderful..an even better one is THE GYUTO MONKS:tibetan tantric choir(from 1987).ENJOY and FREE TIBET

Although it may be tedious to some people, this CD is profound if you can give it a chance. Its particularly useful to relax to, and could be helpful for meditation.

The light inside of you,

This is a powerful meditation CD. It feels as if the chanting of Tibetan monks sweep away all negative emotions from your heart and at the end you can really feel (even see!) the light inside of you.

I really like this item a lot, play it often, feel connected to the monks, wanting them to flourish. The service to my mailbox was fast also. I'm a happy customer.

SPECTACULAR GIFT TO HUMANITY,
By
This review is from: Freedom Chants From the Roof of the World (Audio CD)
Tibetan chanting is extremely deep and emotionally affecting. The chanting is executed deep in the throat. Bells provide the perfect counterpoint at exactly the right time. This chanting is likely to sound weird, if not scary, on first listen. I listened to Freedom Chants today after a long interval and found it weird and scary at first. I knew I really liked the music and was in culture shock. I also was in the "Holiday Spirit" during the Christmas rush: I was exhausted, frazzled and trying to do to much. After listening to the monks for a while, I found myself involuntarily taking large breaths and relaxing. My tension dissipated automatically. After a while, I felt peaceful and unconcerned about the Holiday madness. I looked at the cover of a fashion magazine. An anorexic model grinned painfully, the soul of forced, unnatural gaiety. The Holiday issue put me in culture shock in the other direction. Why do we do all this? That's what this music is: a drugless tranquilizer and life evaluation tool. But you gotta get through the culture shock.

Someone lent me Freedom Chants From the Roof Of the World on Cassette Tape. I do enjoy the Monks deep chanting however it was unusual to listen to at 1st as it is not something I've heard in our culture. #2 for Gaia is not a chant by Monks and is very beautiful to listen to, there is only instruments playing.
