5.0 out of 5 stars An artist well worth recognition!, March 15, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Freedom (Audio CD)
How exactly can one describe a true talent? Chester Knight and the Wind. Freedom. A positive, inspiring ensemble, with songs that come straight out of the heart of a man with keen insight and hope. Songs sung with so much heart that you can't help but feel the emotions with which Chester so passionately reveals in each note. There's alittle of everything for everybody in this CD; alittle soft rock, alittle blues, alittle country, and some of the best guitar I've heard anywhere. I only wish there were more guitar solos, because whoever is playing it on this CD, be it Chester or someone else in "the Wind"(I do not wish to credit the wrong party!) plays with so much heart it is such a perfect addition to an already awesome writer and vocalist! Yeah, there's alittle bit of heartbreak in a couple of the ballads, but sung with the right emotional deliverance that is sure to tug at your heartstrings! But mostly, this is a work that is overall positive. It inspires hope and encouragement, both for Native Americans and for everybody else. It definitely deserves five stars in my opinion, because of its positive content and insightful songwriting and musical delivery. I can't wait for their next release!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Master of Sadness, August 20, 2003
This review is from: Freedom (Audio CD)
I first heard Chester Knight in 8/2001, on KTNN-AM, out of Window Rock, AZ. I didn't catch his name, but wrote down the line "Love me strong, all night long". That song was something really special. A year later while again on my way to Gallup, I heard an interview on KTNN with a guy called Chester Knight. They went to one of his songs and it was "Love Me Strong". The high, lonesome sound of that train whistle voice gave me the same chills it gave me the year before, a voice lonely as the desert night, (a sort of Neil Young of Canada). While there are a some upbeat country songs on the CD for toe tapping, there are more importantly those sad songs. Honest, heart wrenching laments of stolen culture and lost identity. "Tecumseh" will make those that have never found a place to fit in on this earth, weep. A breathtaking painting of pain and beauty. I can't wait to hear his other songs.
