I am not a big fan of Christian music in general - most of the time this genre is way too bland or the lyrics are like a fifteen-year old wrote them. I am amazed, though, by this recording. Believe it or not this guy knows how to write songs. Darrell Evans' passionate lyrics and intense arrangements strongly profess his love for God and connect directly with the heart of this Christian. It is easily one of the best CD's by whether by a Christian or not that I have ever heard.

Darrell's 2nd VERTICAL release is worth every penny! His pop-rock style was recorded in-studio but yet has alot of "recorded live" feel to it. The disc has a good balance of upbeat tunes with ballad and anthems. The songs are slightly longer than typical (ave. 6 min.) with the best song coming in at 9 min. (I'm In Love With You) which gives the artist more time to lay down the message. We need more Darrells!! The album hosts top notch musicians and musicianship. "I'm in love with you" delivers a Guitar solo by Lincoln Brewster that should go down in history book as a classic. Darrell provides excellent accoustic guitar and lead vocals. Some of the best solid drumming with alot of creativness! Lyrical content focusses on worship to God whether it be love songs to Him or about His attributes. Songwriting is great, easy to understand and sing along with. This album will be labled a worship album and rightly so, but also sets new standards of "worship albums". You won't regret adding this to your cd collection.

Buy this CD. It has not left my CD changer since I purchased it in July 2000. Darrell knows Jesus(!), and the music on this CD continually takes me to the presence of God. There's no gimmick, cliche, or schmaltz here. Darrell just seems to say, "Come along everyone; our God is awesome and let's give it all to him." Words cannot describe how his track "Your Love is Extravagant" touched me (and still touches me). I have sobbed many times during the guitar solo on "I am in Love With You." The Holy Spirit was no doubt dancing through Darrell's pen when he wrote the music for this CD. If you're new to this stuff, then start with tracks eight through ten, and then move into the rest of the CD. You'll be changed, and so glad that you were!

Darrell Evans songwriting ability and worship style are incrdible! The one element that really stands out in this cd besides really great songs is that the lyrics themselves are sung to the Lord where so many Christian songs are sung "about the Lord." This flows with the recording label itself - Vertical Music. Can't wait for the next release!

Darrell Evans is an extremely gifted musician and songwriter. This cd highlights both of these gifts and in the process really blesses the listener. There is no way to just "tune out" the songs and use them for work accompaniment; you'll find yourself worshipping without knowing how you got there! There is not one song on this cd that I want to skip over; they are all very high quality. I highly recommend this album to any Christian who likes contemporary worship.

After months of hearing various recordings from Darrell Evans I decided that it was time for me to purchase his Freedom project-EXCELLENT! We are all in desperate need of knowing God, and I believe that Mr. Evans has helped us to do so. The heart of God is truly liberating, and the heart of Darrell Evans has captured the heart of God in this project. Knowing God is more valuable than seeking Him for my wants or what I "think" I need. Thanks Darrell for helping us all to better understand that. May the breath of Heaven touch your face forever liberating you in the presence of God.

I drive 30 mins. to work each day. This cd keeps me up lifted and on fire for the lord. I work in the med. field and deal with true life and death situation all day long. there are so many days I just can't wait to get in my car and praise the good LORDS name with Darrell as i drive down that long streach of west Texas hwy. being blessed by gods creations. decolores Darrell and Gods love for your music has blessed me.keep cranking them out.A very blessed listener.

If you want to know what today's contemporary worship is, listen to this CD! It will blow you away! Excellent musically and lyrically. This is a CD with a message--what it means to have freedom in Jesus. I've seen Darrell in concert with Lincoln Brewester and it was a totally awesome experience. They truly lead you in worship live, and on this CD. No matter what your age, (I just turned 40) this is a must have!

What an incredible collection of praise and worship songs! I can tell that Darrell has spent time alone with God.

If you are a guitarist, you need to check this out because Lincoln Brewster absolutely slams on this CD! The main riff from "Freedom" and the leads from "When I Pray" and "I Am In Love With You" are incredible!

"Your Love Is Extravagant" is one of the most intimate worship songs I have ever heard. And, there isn't a weak song on this CD! Way to go Darrell!!

"Freedom" is one of the most solid albums I have ever listened to in my life - and I've listened to quite a few having worked in radio for nearly 10 years. In fact, I am perplexed as to why Christian radio has not picked up on this gem. Evans is perhaps one of the best songwriters in the Christian genre and this album is proof of that. From uptempo, Spirit-filled songs such as "Trading My Sorrows", "So Good To Me" and "Freedom" to stirring emotional ballads such as "You are My Portion" and "Your Love is Extravagant", Evans has something on this album for everyone. This is a must for every Christian music fan's collection. You'll have it in high rotation in your CD player!
