From Booklist

The director of cancer prevention and natural products research at Ohio State University here describes the modern prevention-oriented natural health system maharishi ayur-ved, which is related to the ancient Indian health program known as ayurveda. Writing to "inspire both self-help and social policy," Sharma introduces the concept and actions of free radicals, discusses research on them in a wide variety of fields and diseases, and concludes with a consideration of how consciousness is vital to physical health. He also demonstrates both the good and bad features of oxygen. He relates the free radical scavenger, maharishi amrit kalash, to transcendental meditation, showing how the former works from body to mind while the latter moves from mind to body. Although the subject matter is often technical and could be confusing, Sharma deals with it clearly, often drawing upon helpful analogies. William Beatty

5.0 out of 5 stars Science's golden hour has arrived:, May 10, 2000
This review is from: Freedom from Disease: How to Control Free Radicals, a Major Cause of Aging and Disease (Paperback)
Dr. Sharma brilliantly explains about a paradigm in medicine that is more important than germ theory. He explains a unifying cause for diseases like heart disease, diabetes, cancer and even the wrinkles on your skin. If the products and technologies he has researched as a pathologist were drugs or machines this would be headline material for every paper.

A must read to make sense of what the leading edge of medicine has figured out. It will change how you live your life and how to improve your life and maybe have a few less wrinkles.

Medical science has now evolved to the point it can explain what the mystics of the East figured out without the advantage of gas chromotography, and laboratory tools. Dr. Sharma should win the Nobel prize for this presentation.

I'm only in the third chapter and already know without a doubt that every person concerned about their health must read this book. The scientific information is translated to laymen's terms with great clarity, allowing for a thorough understanding of the causes for disease. Please take charge of your health and read this book.
