As a longtime gamer I'm always looking for that little gem that slipped through the cracks. This is one of them. A first-person shooter, Freedom Fighters takes place in the United States during an invasion by the USSR. Desperate times bring forth unlikely heroes, and you play a plumber who becomes the last, best hope for the American resistance. It's got an interesting premise, good voice acting, solid graphics and sounds (for the time; it was released in 2003), and great playability. Also, since it's an older game, it will run on just about any P.C. sold today without any expensive upgrades. Grab it and go get those dirty Reds!

This is one of the greatest games I've ever played. It's the whole package--beautiful visuals, great music, interesting premise, unique gameplay, and mostly it's freakin' fun. Every time I beat the game, I immediately commence a new game. I'm still not tired of it. The only complaints I have are the lame dialogues, friendly interference (dudes be steppin' in front of you while you're trying to snipe dirty Reds), and lack of a sequel.
If you like 3rd-person shooters, you'll love this game. If you wish the Cold War were still going, you probably need to get over it, but you'll also enjoy this game. |
