FreedomFiler provided a structure to setup my paper files. I have a lot of paper files. It helped me setup my files so that I can find what I need, remove outdated information, have access to permanent records and setup archives. Also, I was able to get rid of files that I don't need. I found out about FreedomFiler after buying "Unclutter Your Life In One Week" and reading the Unclutter Blog, so it was a priority to get rid of things if possible.

It is worth the money I spent but it took a lot of time to set it up. They give you suggestions for what to file based on the type of information you are filing, including alternate suggestions and the ability to customize labels. If I had created a new filing system on my own, it would have taken a lot more time, it would not be as easy to maintain and would not look as nice.

I would like to have had specific suggestions for filing health insurance bills and EOB's and there are a few types of files that don't fit into a specific place. This is probably because I need to learn this system. Another thing I would like: being able to add a file without having to shift all of the tabs for that section. My temporary solution is to setup the tabs inline while I am still making changes.

There are two questions you need to ask yourself before you buy this product. First do you already have a filing system for your important papers? If yes are you happy with it? If both answers are yes you do not need this product. Now if your papers are laying around in piles and have cost you time and or money searching for then you should consider this product.
What you get: Labels for your files and a step by step method for getting a handle on organizing them. You do not get the files or tabs. On amazon the files will cost you around $35. There are plenty of vids on the internet that demonstrate their system of organizing your files. I would look at them before buying any filing system.
Me I first got my ideas for organizing my files from Money Magazine way back in the 1980's. This product is an improvement over mine but it is taking a while to adapt to their way of filing.
Five stars for this product for people who need a place to start and four for those of us who already have a system in place and want to improve it.

It took a while to assemble the kit and transfer everything over from my legacy cabinets and piles. Having cleared that hurdle, I now marvel at how easy it is to retrieve any of my papers. When I must review a contract or agreement, I am pleased by the speed at which I am able to have the papers to hand. I find the "Catch All" monthly files, and "Remove/Replace" sections especially useful. The "Quick Index" is a work of art that guides my decisions on many hard to classify documents. I also like the accuracy of the headings for my filing needs, and the elegance of the product's look and function. I've begun relying on this system immediately.

I ordered the Freedom Filer to help me organize the overwhelming buildup of papers in my home. The product came very quickly and it also quickly changed my life. I am blown away by how incredibly simple, yet efficient the Freedom Filer system is. The sensible tab headings make filing and retrieving papers easy and the color coding helps me to know exactly when to clear papers out. The tax records section is especially brilliant because I now have a way to keep tax related documents organized by specific expense and earnings categories and by filing year. What a relief to finally have my papers under control! Thank You Freedom Filer!

I purchased FreedomFiler on Amazon Marketplace. It is not advantageous for me to have labels. There is no filing container nor are there folders. What I received was stickers and how to organize files. Thanks but I can do that without a Kit. I assumed I was getting a file holder and folders for my papers. Wrong. Not worth while for me.
