Editorial Reviews

Product Description

The second issue of Freedom Seat is expanded to what will be its permanent side. We've added an articles section. An ongoing series will be Aviation on Stamps, and we begin with Q8, the very first stamp depicted on a plane. The other article features women aviation artists.

Are book review section is also expanded. We review and critique Jerrie Cobb: Solo Pilot (she was one of the Mercury 13), Spitfire Women of World War II (England's Auxiliary Transport Auxiliary), and three Amelia Earhart biographies:
1) Amelia Earhart: Young Aviation Pioneer
2) Amelia Earhart: A Biography
3) East to the Dawn: A Biography of Amelia Earhart

5.0 out of 5 stars Well...gee, March 24, 2009
This review is from: The Freedom Seat Issue 2 (Kindle Edition)
I was careful this time to give a complete table of contents for Freedom Seat Reviews issue 2... something I had neglected to do for the first issue...and yet I see that that section isn't even showing up! So, once again, I must place the table of contents here! Permit a slight grrrrrr.

Articles
1. Aviation on stamps, first in a series. Q8: Mail by Aeroplane - the first plane on a stamp, issued in 1913 by the US.
2. Women Aviation Artists

More About the Author

I have recently published my first science fiction novel on the Kindle: The Coldest Equations. (If you like SF TV, you will love this book. Buy it today!)

I also am an annotator - my most successful book to date is my annotation of the Dorothy Sayers novel, Whose Body? which was also the first appearance of Lord Peter Wimsey.

As the daughter of a pilot in the Air Force, who upon retirement was a cargo pilot who flew in Africa and the Middle East, I've traveled throughout the United States and a good bit of the world. This early travel instilled in me a wanderlust that will never be slaked.

At age 13 I traveled to England for the first time, where I saw my first play, The Mousetrap, by Agatha Christie; got my first crush on an actor (Brian McDermott, who played DS Trotter); and within a day or two read my first Agatha Christie book, The Secret Adversary. In one fell swoop I fell in love with the theatre and with the mystery genre.

My interest in the science fiction genre started with the classic - the best - the original Star Trek TV series. I currently am co-publisher of The Thunder Child science fiction and fantasy webzine, and co-publisher of Volcano Seven, a series of scientific blogs (also available on the Kindle).

I'm a collector, and what I collect is experiences. One goal is to visit and see a game at every ballpark in the US (yes, it was inspired by a credit card commercial of many years ago), I want to see a professional production of every Agatha Christie play (Black Coffee and Akhneton are the two remaining plays on my list), and drive across country to trace the route - at least what remains of - the classic Route 66.
