Product Description

The Freedom Wand® is a sanitary, easy to use, multipurpose, portable, personal toilet tissue aid. It's specifically designed for personal cleaning and hygiene for anyone with limited mobility. The four fingers easily grasp toilet tissue, a razor, loofah, or ointment applicator. The easy to use slide button releases tissue into the toilet with little effort. The Freedom Wand® comes in three pieces the handle, the extension and the head. The head is 9 inches long and has a slight curve to it to allow for proper reach. Use the Freedom Wand® with the handle and head for a total of 14 inches in length or add the extension for 20 inches. An extra extension can be ordered making the total length 25 inches. The head also has four "fingers" that extend out of the wand with the slide of a button. When sliding the button back, the fingers go into the wand, securing the item in place. To release an item, just push and slide the button back. It is that easy! The Freedom Wand® is made from a polypropylene material, making it very durable and easy to clean. It is also designed with a rinse hole in the head to aid in easy cleaning.

It should be at LEAST made of higher quality materials with more durable strength and a better designed grasping mechanism.

Thought it would help after hip surgery but not so.

I've been using this for two months now, and I'm pleased with it. You need to be patient with it's use, however. After some practice, the freedom obtained with this is priceless. Not having to wait for somebody else to assist in the most basic of human functions is invaluable. I've had two failed back surgeries, and now I can't twist or bend far enough to reach without this aid.

I've found that depending on the thickness / number of ply of the toilet tissue will determine how many squares you will use - anywhere from six to twelve. I also "follow-up" with a single moist wipe like Cottonelle's "flushable" moist wipes. Cottonelle Fresh Flushable Wipes, Refills, Case of 4/84s (336 ct) Depending on the type of septic / sewer system you use will determine whether or not you should actually flush them or not. In the carry bag that comes with this "Freedom Wand," I generally include two zip-lock baggies: one containing three of the moist wipes, and one empty one for the used one(s) that I simply toss into the garbage afterwards. While distasteful, you'll save yourself alot of grief down the road if your septic can't handle the wipes, as well as being far outweighed by your new-found independence.

Watch the video (in the link provided in the first comment) from the inventor of this to get an idea of how it works.

The only thing I'd add to the video is that when placing the tissue or wipe into the "fingers," I don't use the thumb slide to pull the item into the wand; with the item in the "fingers" of the wand, I compress the four "fingers" and push it into the wand.

This sure beats a bent stick! - it's well designeded and with only a short learning curve is easy to use. It has been a lifesaver for me! My back has become so inflexable with arthritis I needed longer arms to reach places. It also travels well in it's little tote bag, having gone with me to the Grand Canyon and other attractions in the Southwest for a week. No, I wasn't arrested for carrying a weapon onto the airplane, and no one even remarked about it. I just bought a second one for the other downstairs bathroom and "just in case" the first one broke or went missing; you see, I have to have one available! It's quite an attraction hanging on the wall beside the toilet paper and could be easily 'swiped'. You will need to add a ring to the end of it to have it hang properly, the moulded 'hanging ring' in the end is turned the wrong way, the mfg. needs to modify this part. Otherwise it's well thought out and fairly well made. I would prefer it be made just a little bit sturdier, but it's held up just fine so far. If you are afflicted with obesity, a bad back, or just have short arms, you really should have this device. As a designer, I believe it's the best concieved device of this type available today for sanitary use. If you need one, this is the one I recommend.

This is a very useful product for those of us with limited reach. I have tryed other products in this category that are not nearly as versitile. I can use it to shave my legs and wash hard to reach areas. Wonderful.

It's hard to find a good toilet aide. I am an OT and I feel that this toilet aide works the best. I like that you can adjust it to 2 differnt sizes/lengths and also that most people, even people with arthritic conditions of the hands, are able to manpiulate it.

I think as I aged my arms must have shrunk, or my body got a little too round. Whatever the circumstances, I was not able to practice perfect cleanliness without a little help. This tissue aid worked perfectly. Thanks to whomever developed this device.

since being partially crippled in hands and arms i have struggled for 4 yrs with hygiene....after reading reviews and watching her video i ordered this even though i thought it was a little pricey....well, it is worth every penny and more...i've only had it for two days and at first it felt a little awkward but now i feel confident using it...in fact i am i also going to order a second one for lotion application and keep this one for bathroom use...although they are easily cleaned...still..lol...i also got some flushable wipes to use with this tool...works great...also comes with a cd so you can pop it in your pc and she shows you how to use it...i will say that if anyone is experiencing difficulties using this tool they are not paying attention to the instructions...this thing is great
