Great Reference for History Students,

This review is from: Freedom's Light: Quotations from History's Champions of Freedom (Kindle Edition)
Those of you who value your personal freedom, or want to find out why you should, can benefit from reading quotations from some of history's most avid supporters of liberty. Key among them are the founders of the United States and their forebears from Europe, but the book also includes quotations about recent events such as the war in Bosnia, as seen through the eyes of Zlata Filipovic. Perfect for students who need a quote for a term paper.
We need to pay attention, because as Franklin said, "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." We seem to be doing a lot of that lately. Or how about this one by Lord Acton? "Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely." Any bells ringing? |
