A happy rhythm that makes you want to bop your head.
Rockin guitar hooks that make you want to bang your head.
Lush tones and soundscapes(there, I said it) that immerse you and carry you away.
Driving energy.

All these elements... all in the same song. That's the "sweet spot" of alt-rock. Something you can both rock out to and lose yourself in. That's the Soundscapes. Think the immersive textured tones of My Bloody Valentine, but with the drive and energy of Pavement or The Pixies. Add a dash of Sonic Youth-esque edge, and you get the idea. They also remind me of Dip, one of my favorite Japanese rock bands.

I randomly tripped across these guys rocking out on a Brooklyn sidewalk about 2 years ago and was immediately blown away. I've been waiting for this CD ever since, and it does not disappoint. Do yourself a favor: pick up a copy, and listen to it all day long. That's what I've been doing.
