Book Description

As easy as ABC, this book is written with the inexperienced, beginner cook in mind. It is not primarily a cook book, but an introduction to freezer cooking.

If you have ever wanted to be like Julia Child, Martha Stewart, Rachael Ray, Gordon Ramsey, or The Barefoot Contessa but don't have the time, and if you've ever wondered what it would be like to have an extra hour in the evening to yourself and not have to worry about the dreaded question, "Hey Mom, what's for dinner?" then freezer cooking just might be for you. The "ABC'S of Freezer Cooking" covers all the basics to teach you how and how not to prepare freezer meals for your family. From cooking all your meals for a month in just one day, or preparing just a few extra meals for when you're family is particularly busy, this book is full of helpful tips and tricks to help you make it happen. Included is how to write a meal plan, money saving strategies, 15 basic recipes, and there is even a section on how to utilize freezer cooking as a weight loss tool. If you're looking for a quick read, and an introduction into the world of make-ahead meals then this book is the perfect place to get started. Written with the beginning freezer cook in mind. An Amazon Bestseller by Amazon multiple book Bestselling Author K.M. Logan.

About the Author

K.M. Logan is just one of those moms.  She isn't always slow to anger and her house looks nothing like a picture from a magazine (unless of course it's a before picture) . You can often see her with squabbling kids in the grocery store perhaps payback for the years she assumed that would never be her children when she one day had them. She struggled with adult acne for 10 years and all the insecurities that went with it. You might sometimes see her "not red" hair roots  because she's too busy to dye her hair with her favorite shade of henna.  She's a little bit of a hippie, and would rather go without chocolate and coffee when she can't afford to buy fair trade.  She's gluten free, dairy free, sugar free, and feels like she is going to die whenever she accidentally eats something with soy. K.M. Logan also happens to be an Amazon bestselling author and blogs at KMLogan.com where she wants to encourage all the moms that are like her.  Moms with squabbling kids at the grocery store and are a little bit frazzled.  Mort importantly moms who want to be wrecked for Jesus.  Moms who are completely inadequate but fear the Lord and pursue his strength.  Moms that can't do this thing on their own, moms who just want to love the Lord.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not What I Was Expecting! October 17, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
But sooo much better! This little book is not chock full of recipes, but has great hints I wish I had known when I tried Freezer Cooking years ago. My husband works in retail (with crazy hours that change ALL the time) and is a full-time pastor as well. I have been cooking large meals that I used to make when the kids were still home, and freezing single serving sizes that he can grab, heat and eat whenever his lunch hour shows up! I'm going to try to do several meals in a single day and freeze most of it so he has a variety of meals to choose from. I love the idea of kitchen clean-up once or twice a month rather than after ever single meal!

5.0 out of 5 stars Ideas to adapt your recipies and more. November 27, 2012
Format:Paperback
ABCs of Freezer cooking is easy and quick to read and full of sensible tips and ideas. It encourages the reader to adapt the instructions to one's own needs. My children are grown, but I need to spend afternoons with my aging mother. I've implemented some ideas to make dinner faster and easy when I get home. If you want to simplify even a few meals a week, this book is a worthwhile read.

3.0 out of 5 stars It's OK January 29, 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This was a quick overview of the author's world in freezer cooking written in ABC chapter format ...A is for Arrange time now to save time later, B is for Baked goods, etc. Ms Logan used her experience with freezer cooking and spoke of the benefits it holds and encouraged the reader to try it out. She shared tips that has worked for her.

The art of freezer cooking is no rocket science so much of what she stated were common sense. For example, I couldn't wait to get to the letter W for Weight Loss to see what she wrote there. There she had a two paragraph, one page entry that basically said to package meals in controlled portions ..label packages with calorie count if desired. Not exactly what I was looking for in that section but this isn't a diet book so shame on me! This is a book about how freezer cooking can save you time in the kitchen cooking. So the key that came across was preparation, preparation, preparation ... prepare ahead of time meals that can easily be put together in a snap.

I don't foresee myself cooking a month's worth of meals like this author does but doubling what I cook and freezing half is doable. I've done it a few times and this book did inspire me to try it out more often.

At the end, the author imparted ten best tips. Tip #5 I've put into practice (tweaked for non-freezer meals) and have worked for me beautifully so this book gets a half a star rating up for the idea, "Keep a meal plan on your fridge of meals you have in your freezer and your lightning fast meal choices. I don't assign days on my meal plans, I just cross the meals off as we eat them." See, I'm awful at meal planning.

3.0 out of 5 stars A quick, basic, Introduction says it all January 19, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book is a little basic. If you've never made meals ahead, this book will help. Most of the information is so...basic.

The recipes look solid and the writing is very friendly, a plus in any book.

I just wasn't inspired. I was looking to find a little teasure or tid bit I haven't used before.

For the newbe, this is a good overview. Not bogged down in super specific details. Again a plus. I don't feel like I have to go out and get the newest super dupper gadgets to make this book work.

Good solid ideas.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great tips and methods to get you started! December 31, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
After I read this book I went ahead and made three freezer meals! There are some basic recipes in here, but mostly just good common sense and tips to show you how to do a bit at a time rather than think you have to cook for 10 hours and store meals for a month...you can start small and work your way up. VERY GOOD and a must read for those (like me) who've been flitting around thinking about freezer cooking but needed the tools to jump in and get started.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected January 5, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
From the title and description, I hoped to find a book containing information on the basics of freezer cooking. I was most interested in learning how to organize batch cooking, how to set up a plan that would work with a small freezer, and most especially in how to identify or tweak recipes that would freeze well. To be fair, this book does have some advice about all of this, but not much about any of it. Most of the advice can be summed up as "there's plenty of information online."

This book is primarily a cheerleading effort for the author's own blog, with some reference to other online sources. It would have benefited from an unbiased editor - there are numerous spelling and grammar errors, as well as a lot of overuse of particular phrases, all of which make it tedious to read.

I did not gain enough information from the book to justify the purchase price - and I downloaded it for free.
