You hate life if you don't buy this record.,

C'mon, think about it. What better disc do you have to spend 11.98 on today. First of all, the songs on this record are good, like, interpol, but with a singer who sounds like he didn't just wake up and stab himself in the throat. Also, if you like drums or rhythm, this record has both. the guitars are simultaneously wistful and restless creating an emotional landscape that will definitely make you feel something. Which, face it, you don't do everyday. If you've ever claimed to like music or people or your family, you have to buy this record.

A good indie/pop rock album which is uneven overall - should be a satisfying purchase, though,

Aberdeen City's "The Freezing Atlantic" has several hitworthy songs which are unfortunately hindered by the album's unevenness. These hitworthy tracks are arguably "Sixty Lives", "God Is Going To Get Sick Of Me", "Another Seven Years" and "In Combat". The singer tends to sound similar to bands of the same genre, but for some reason you can't pinpoint what bands. He IS good, though. Lyrically the songs aren't necessarily interesting, but they are indeed catchy (especially on those three tracks I mentioned). It's pretty standard fare musically, but the songs that are catchy are VERY catchy (they can definitely create a hook - the songs sound VERY similar to Interpol's style, though). Unfortunately, after the first four songs the album starts to get uneven. There are essentially only 6 good songs on the album, but the quality of those 4 hitworthy songs definitely bumps it up from a "3" to a "4". All in all I would recommend this album, though not "greatly".
Highlights include: "Another Seven Years" "Pretty Pet" (sort of) "God Is Going To Get Sick Of Me" "Sixty Lives" "In Combat" "Stay Still"

Aberdeen City is one of those bands that no one seems to know about. And it isn't because they suck either. I consider their music to be pretty good, actually. What friends I've had listen also seemed to like them. I think they have a lot of potential but they need help in gaining exposure.
A few things worth mentioning, I own both of their albums. The Freezing Atlantic is the best, IMO, although "We learned by Watching" is great as well. Big difference between the two? The Freezing Atlantic is more mainstream in sound and more people will latch onto that, whereas their first release is more emotionally charged, to put it lightly. The songs are a bit 'different' as well on the first album. I like both for different reasons. The recording is pretty decent, although for major audiophiles, you'll pick up on some descrepencies if you have a decent sound system, but the albums are mixed well overall for a band which isn't really well known. Rather than me continue babbling about them, go ahead and take a listen yourself and see what you think. :)

I saw these guys live in nyc, and i was blown away by their powerful sound. There was a lot of energy and often anger channeled through their music, and it came through very clear. You could definitely feel the emotion they were trying to evoke. Check them out.

It is amazing how Aberdeen City sounds. The vocal's unique lyrics, and the icy guitar riffs send you to a different world. There are a couple of songs that stand out on this album, specifically album anchor "God Is Going To Get Sick Of Me", the mysterious lyrics of "In Combat" and "Another Seven Years". My personal favorite is "Sixty Lives".If you like U2, Radiohead, or the Strokes, its gun rock ur world.

Awesome band--relatively unknown,

Almost all of the songs on this cd are great. I would say Aberdeen City sounds like a cross between The Killers and The Strokes; which, as you'd expect, makes for a great sound. I'm surprised more people haven't heard of them. Highly recommended.
