Early aviation in France,

This book is not easy to read. The book is vital reference source for early aviation enthusiast. The book covers a period when aviation was neither means of transportation or weapon. Aviation was newborn expensive sport, and pretty dangerous one. Famous engineers and passionate newbies had an even start, everything was new and untried. The book briefly covers this multitude of approaches and design concepts, providing overall picture of the first decade of heavier than air aeronautics in France. Gearheds will ask for a book with a lot more technical details, some will ask for more emphasis on people and circumstances. These books are yet to be written. There is substantial cornerstone for future builders ...

This book contains all that is to be known about the numerous pionniers of French (and, at that time "world's) aeroplanes. Some of these contraptions went quickly to the rubbish heap, but the others laid the fondation for the heavier-than-air success up to now.
