4.0 out of 5 stars Still holds up as a solid introduction to French collaboration, February 2, 2011
This review is from: The French Against the French: Collaboration and Resistance (Hardcover)
Milton Dank's work was first published over a quarter-century ago, but it still holds up as a well-written, accessible and scholarly introduction to French collaboration and resistance during WWII. Includes the basic outlines of the history of Vichy, but I found Dank's accounts of the more extreme pro-Nazi collaborators (Doriot, Deat, Deloncle) very well done. Recommended for readers who need a comprehensive overview of the French resistance/collaboration paradigm, or as as a first book for readers who then want to go on to explore more specific topics or individuals.
