We all know that one of the secrets to delicious food is that it is evenly cooked, no undercooked pieces that were chopped to large, and no tiny bits that got burnt. This cutter/wedger/dicer will help you immensely by cutting your spuds or apples into uniform sizes. Your food will look better and taste better. The flared stainless handles make this feel extra sturdy as you push through fruits and veggies.

4.0 out of 5 stars Faster than a knife, October 10, 2006

This review is from: French Fry Cutter with 3 Blades
After buying a similar apple slicer at the dollar store (worked, but was flimsy), I bought this because I like to make french fries and it seemed like a good concept. Well, potatoes are a lot harder to force a blade through than apples are, so pushing it gently was not going to work.

After a bit of experimentation, I figured out how to use the thing. You slice a small bit of the potato off the bottom so you can stand the spud upright, push the blade into it a bit (that's about all it will go anyway), then pick the whole thing up and smack it into a cutting board. A couple of smacks and the potato is all the way through the blades. I haven't cut large russet potatoes, just medium sized yellow potatoes.

It does work well, is faster than a knife, but I did expect something with a bit more finesse. It is also easy to clean and not too bulky to store. Overall it is not bad.

1.0 out of 5 stars waste of money, April 15, 2006
This review is from: French Fry Cutter with 3 Blades
I thought this would be a great thing to make french fries, but unless you're a strong man, it is impossible to push a potato through the cutter. It cuts about half way down and then sticks. If you're lucky enough to get it all the way though, it won't push the extra half inch to get it off the cutter, so you have to cut it off anyway. Waste of time and money.
